Chiff, was that intentional disrespect? I will assume not. Say Anything is one of my faves too, but it wasn't John Hughes' film at all.
Try The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Buehler, etc.

Say Anything is Cameron Crowe, another great...RIP John Hughes, thanks for the movies of my generation. High School Musical has nothing on The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Buehler, etc.

Thanks for a fantastic memory, @cesnyc--it's funny how much food says about the different characters in that scene.
I never have nor,I doubt, ever will have a BC sandwich, but I always identified with Ally's character in that film.
