Where to buy craft/exotic beers?

No bars, please... I'm looking for liquor stores that specialize in microbrews/exotics/hard-to-finds. I haven't found anything in the city.

There is a shop called Bierkraft in Park Slope on 5th Avenue that sells hard to find beers.

You beat me to it, Laurelie. Bierkraft is excellent, if a bit out of the way if you don't happen to live 4 blocks away from it! ;)

I miss very little about NYC, but Bierkraft is one of them. Used to go at least once a week since I lived 10 blocks away :)

Amazing!

The Whole Foods In Bowery has a great beer room. An extensive bottle selection, and about 10 taps (I think around 10) which you can buy a growler full of. Plus frequent tastings. I always find something new there.

@Adam - you're lucky to live so close! I think Bierkraft is worth the trek if you are really into beer - it's only a 10 minute walk from Atlantic Avenue. Plus Gorilla Coffee is right nearby!

Bierkraft has great selection but they are also pricey. Whole Foods Bowery is actually the better bang for your buck.

@bobbob: Thanks for the tip. Will look into WFB. I actually end up a Bierkraft more for the cheese and such. I like that they carry Usinger's bratwurst, too. (At least they did last summer; haven't been in yet for brats this year.)

I also suggest New Beer, it's a wholesaler on Chrystie just above Bowery, but you can walk in and buy for yourself. They have a large selection of craft beers, particularly Belgian, and the people there know their stuff and are very helpful. And if you're already going to Whole Foods, it's just a couple blocks away, for comparison. I went last week, and I ended up going back to Whole Foods, because I was just buying Boddingtons, and that was slightly cheaper at Whole Foods.
