what to do this weekend for a solo traveler?
hey~~ I'm visiting NYC this weekend and wonder what interesting places should I go? I've been in NYC couple of times, so this trip would be more like a new yorker than a tourist. Any recommendations?
thanks

Hmmm, any hints on what you are interested in or where you've been in the past? Today's Daily Candy had a few suggestions for the weekend: http://www.dailycandy.com/new_york/

It's restaurant week in New York so make your reservations and eat up.

I also like the Richard Avedon retrospective at the International Center of Photography. It's much more interesting and glamorous than the "Model as Muse" show at the Metropolitan Museum.

how about a union square area adventure?
you could start off with fish's eddy for a little shopping, then the union square farmers market to taste the goodies / pick up treats, italian wine merchants for wine, then maybe dogmatic or num pang for lunch or a midafternoon snack? then you could wander over to w 18th street and shop some of the used bookstores over there. maybe after all the food go to prana power hot yoga for a little exercise.
i think that would be a pretty nice day. don't know what's open this holiday weekend, so you'd have to check various websites.

I say start at the top of Central Park or in Harlem and walk your way all the way down the west side then make your way back up via the east side.
On your journey, stop at whatever stores and eateries you find pleasing. Blog about your findings, take pics, and I guarentee you'll have an amazing experience.

do a lower east/ east village adventure. start at the doughnut plant for some delicious treats.....get some coffee from simon sips. walk around, shop at the little stores near the orchard street area. lunch at prune. go to thompkins square park. have some belgian fries from 2nd ave. look at the crazies on st. mark's... and maybe dinner at schiller's or spitzer's....
