The most awesome deep dish in Chicago?
I'll be going to Chicago in September and im really looking forward to some good chicago pizza. I'll only be there a few days so i dont have time try and find one myself. I'll be staying downtown so any other must eat suggestions/things to do would be awesome as well!

Lou Malnati's deep dish sausage (in patty form) and mushroom. Hands down my favorite.

It's a big debate here in Chicago but I think the chain most worthy of trying is Lou Malnati's (as opposed to Giordano's or Uno's). There are plenty of smaller non-chain deep dish pizza places I'd recommend too...like Pizano's or Bella's. Hope you like Chicago!

I've had Lou Malnati's three times in the past two weeks (and I don't live anywhere near one). Does that say anything?

While this is not deep dish, Quartino offers the best Italian style pizza in town. You can enjoy this pizza on the Progressive Dining Tour offered every Friday and Saturday by Chicago Dine-Around. Visit www.chicagodinearound.com for more info on Chicago Dine-Around. Have a great trip to Chicago!!

"The Lou" -- absolutely delicious.
I think you can guess where that's from...

Lou Malnati's! And I'm from New York! I loved it enough to have it shipped to New York!

I'm so excited that everybody agrees on one place...that makes it really easy for me.

@joylissa: Lou Malnati's is the one place I recommend that visitors try. I would warn you to avoid the Lincoln Park/Lakeview location if you can. I've had three consecutive less than great experiences there. In the past month, I've been to the original location in Lincolnwood and the location in Wicker Park (take out and delivery only) and both produced the traditional exceptional pies.

@Daniel: What's the best way to get around all the different chicago areas like Lincolnwood and all the many other locations....it's just me and my friend going to visit and we dont know anybody so do we just rely on taxi's? Are they gonna break our pockets having to use them for 4 days straight? We would like to have money left to eat !!!! :D

I agree, the Lincolnwood loation is the best. For transportation, chicago has pretty good public transportation and PACE buses are very reliable.

@joylissa: For most of the actual city, particularly the sections that tourists frequent, public transportation is great and easy to use. It's not as good as New York, but better than any other American city I know of. Lincolnwood is outside the city and either a long bus ride or a very pricey cab ride. If you're staying downtown, you can go to the Lou Malnati's in River North, which I haven't been to in a few years but never disappointed me, or the new one in the South Loop.

Totally agree with Daniel, there's no reason to run out to Lincolnwood when you have several locations in the city. It's quite inconvenient to get out there and there really isn't anything to see.
