Nice date spot in Milwaukee
Im going to be talking a girl out for the first time in milwaukee. I would like something nearish the downtown area. Its our first date so nothing too fancy. I really like Cubanitas so something similar in price and atmosphere would be nice!
nothin too stuffy, more romantic and laid back. any suggestions?

how about Coquette?
the bf and i went there on a trip to milwaukee a couple years back and had a great time. the space is charming - not stuffy, but i wouldn't call it totally romantic either - and the food was yummy.

Coquette Cafe is a great pick andshewas.
Tracadero too. Good food, nice vibe, hip but causal, with a sophisticated bistro flair. http://www.diablosrojos.us/admin/pdfs/trocadero_food.pdf

I am a sucker for Latin foods, so Cubanitas is also a good pick.

I was gonna say Trocadero too.
I'm interested in what responses you get. I need a good Milwaukee date spot as well.
So people still go to Elsa's? Is it too douchey?

Elsa'a- The lighting is bright, the people are "beautiful"- It's more of a meeting place. I would categorize Elsa's as more of a place to see and be seen; not a romantic spot. (Although their sandwiches are really good.)
I'd suggest Mimma's, but they have a much higher price point. (Excellent food, great service, very romantic, but pricier.) Same with Bartolotta's on the Lake.
The Thrid Ward District also has some interesting restuarnants, but I can't recommend any of them- haven't been down there for a long time.

One place I'd love to try is Nanakusa.

Nanakusa is great - spendy, but pretty and delicious. Ambience is nice.
One site I went to actually mentioned Pizza Man on North Ave. At first I was like, "well geez, Pizza Man?" But then I thought... those big dark booths, the wine list, the great service, the available drink spots around the area... and the pizza's delicious. It's super casual, but if you're into that, it could be fun.
Have you tried Sabor? It's around 45 a piece for everything now, but if you're both carnivores, it's really fun, not stuffy at all, and the meat is just gooooood.

Oh, sorry to double post, but: Cafe Hollander on Downer, maybe? Easy, casual, good atmosphere. The sandwiches are delicious. http://www.cafehollander.com/index.php
