Need recipe using bittersweet chocolate
I am moving in a month and trying to use up all my food that will not make it on a long hot trip. I have 6 oz. of bittersweet chocolate to use up... what do you suggest I make?
I was thinking a chocolate tart but my cook books and recipes online seem to call for 10-12 oz, which seems like a lot!
No souffles please, but all other suggestions welcome.
Thank you!

Make cookies and chop up the chocolate instead of using chocolate chips. Chocolate dipped anything would be delicious (graham crackers, strawberries, pretzels, cherries, espresso beans, raisins, to name a few).

Shortbread base, raspberry jam, drizzle of the bittersweet chocolate.
Use it in any cake recipe that calls for melted semi-sweet, for a good flavor.
Melt it, let it cool some, then whip it with some cream or neufchatel cheese or goat cheese and some milk or cream (or coffee!) as a dip for fresh fruit and bread.
Melt and cool it, mix in into a well beaten and room temp base of:
8oz. cream cheese
4oz. sour cream
1/8 cup sugar
1 tsp. orange zest
2 tbsp Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
Once all that is well mixed up, take 2 tbsp of orange juice and sprinkle 1 tbsp of gelatin over it. Let it bloom then remelt in the micro at 5 second intervals til runny. Slowly drizzle into the mix, incorporating well. Pour into a pie crust or graham shell and allow to set 4-6 hours. Quick no bake chocolate-orange cheesecake!
Use for fondue, melted with several tbsp of cream, a dash of sugar, some vanilla. Dip fruits or cake into it while warm.
Melt and cool, fold into sweetened egg whites that have been beaten stiff with some cream of tartar. Bake like pavlova.

1. Open mouth.
2. Insert chocolate.
Done! :)

I'm with @violet. The only steps I would add are:
1.) Open wine
2.) Sip between chocolate bites

ooh, make a flourless chocolate cake. This is a insanely easy recipe (I made it 3 times!!!) and a huge hit with everyone.

mousse! i'm 99.9% sure the recipe from america's test kitchen uses exactly 6 ounces of chocolate.

Almond Toffee Bark - it keeps in the refrigerator longer than the week the recipe says:

Chocolate Espresso Pots De Creme (a delish super-rich pudding):

You can also make eclairs and use the chocolate in the filling and to glaze the tops with.
If it was the winter, I'd suggest making hot chocolate.

Now I have too many options! I am seriously considering the Martha Brownies and the flourless cake.
You can keep the ideas coming too, I will be baking Sunday or Monday.
Thanks everyone!

This recipe from America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Country was in my inbox today. It's for chocolate ice cream, and you don't need a machine for it. It calls for 4 oz. of bittersweet chocolate, but you could melt the remaining 2 oz. into some sweetened condensed milk for a fudge sauce.

oh this thread is nice! I have once-melted (my guess is in a hot car) chocolate chips from a person who recently moved to a different state, so I was going to make something with that. thanks :-)

Grilled Chocolate Sammies
In addition to the chocolate you need:
4 slices of good quality sourdough
1oz.or more unsalted butter
Chop the chocolate. Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Coat one side of each slice with butter. Distribute the chocolate between two slices. Top with additional. Turn heat down to medium low. Cover and grill to golden brown on both sides and chocolate is melted. Climb into bed with sammies, bottle of wine, and honey pie.
