How Should I Store My Pies?

So, a friend just stopped by with a gift of two pies she bought at the fruit stand, one strawberry rhubarb, the other blueberry. And I must suddenly go out of town at the crack of dawn tomorrow. The pies cannot go with: the relatives we are going to lend sudden assistance to are both severely diabetic. We will be gone at least two days, maybe three, and I am pretty sure the pies will be fine until then, but we will have lost up to three days eat-time, and there are only two of us! Once more, HELP! And thanks in advance; you guys always give me great advice!

i left a blueberry pie on the counter for 4 days last week and by the 4th day, it was getting pretty boozy smelling... but i ate it anyways with no ill effects! next time, i'll put it in the fridge after a couple days...

Put one pie in the fridge and eat the other on the drive to said relatives' house?

Refridgerate or freeze. Like andshewas, I recently had a blueberry coffeecake start to get boozy after a couple days on the counter. Fruit goes quick in warm weather.

I say give one away...neighbor, stranger...will be a major dose of good kharma..if you do end up keeping them both, my Noni put shower caps on the tops of her pies to keep them fresh.

@fiftycenthotdog - Shower caps idea is brilliant! I'm a bit non-refrigerator of pies but if I had to go 3-4 days without even starting one I'd put it in the most airtight possible container and refrigerate.

I know it's too late, now, but I think I'd freeze 'em. That way, you can take them out of the freezer one at a time instead of hurrying to eat two pies before they both expire. For sure I wouldn't leave them out. You never know when a clever ant might find its way to the pie, and then you come home to an ant festival on your countertops. Not so good.

And while you say it will be two or three days, it would be too bad if that turned into four or more days, and then you're looking skeptically at those pies and wondering if you really want to eat them or not. Or for how many more days.

However, I have to admit that I got a good laugh at the idea of someone driving down a highway while eating a pie with his/her hands.
