I am heading to Santa Barbara the beginning of Sept. I am looking for the best places to eat. I couldn't care less if is is $5 or $50. Just looking for the best eats...

I'm waiting for responses on this one too....ha ha! I live just a hop skip and a jump away from S.B. and I dont know the answer to this one ;)
I have heard that La Super Rica is great though.....next time I go i'm gonna hit that spot up for sure.

I was there a few years ago and had dinner at a fantastic Japanese place called Arigato. (I was in a winery and someone recommended it.) Delicious. If it is there - and if the wok-stir fried edamame are still on them menu - go for it!

My old stomping ground!!! You're in luck, SB is a wonderful food destination. For a really authentic Mexican experience, head to Rose Cafe on the Mesa. Family-owned and operated for decades and the chilaquilas are out of control. Bouchon is my fav for simple, delicious wine country food. Mitchell the owner is one of the nicest people you'll meet in town. Lots of good Italian options too- Ca'dario is good but service can be spotty. Olio y Limone is quieter and also delicious. For a quintessential SB/CA experience, go to Elements for dinner so you can watch dusk fall on the courthouse- gorgeous! Make sure you get a cocktail- they are all delicious. Brophy Bros. on the harbor doesn't take reservations but it's worth the wait or squeezing in at the bar. Great clam chowder and a local fav. La Super Rica is delicious, but no hidden secret any more. It's still worth a stop, you might see Dennis Franz or Rob Lowe. For a casual lunch, hit up the Daily Grind on Mission Street. It used to be a Shell station actually, but is now a local spot for salads, sandwiches and breakfast burritos. I could keep going but have to get back to work! Have a great time and make sure you save time for wine tasting!

I second Brophy Bros.

Ca' Dario Italian Restaurant; fabulous restaurant and has an intimate laid back feel. Olio Limone, very, very, good food; both will require reservations, but well worth your time and effort. I believe that both are on Victoria Street, on either side of State St.

I love the Hungry Cat for cocktails and amazing seafood. I think the quality is significantly better than Brophy Bros. Also, I always head to the Cajun Kitchen for breakfast. I get the blacked salmon benedict but really anything there is wonderful. Rose Cafe is really killer and a beautiful setting.

I really enjoy the brunch at the Four Seasons/Biltmore San Diego. Great selections (including a caviar bar). Sit out on the terrace so you can stare at the sea.

I know I didnt start this post but thanks to stefp16 for doing it ...
I seriously go to SB all the time and have never been to any of these places, well except for Rose cafe which is really good. I think I'll have lunch out there tomorrow and I wont go to the Habit like I always do ;)
Why is it that people (me) take things that they have for granted so often?? I hate that......for example its already what practically August and i've only gone to the beach once so far this summer! Sad.

Palace Grill, half a block off State St on Cota has excellent Cajun.
Brophy is good but very crowded. The Harbor Restaurant on Stearns Wharf has good seafood and great views.
La Super Rica is the spot for authentic Mexican.
Your Place on Milpas St is a good Thai restaurant.

Another vote for La Super Rica!

La Super Rica is the most over-hyped spot in town. You can get much better (and even cheaper) Mexican food in many different places around SB. For tacos, the best place in town is Lily's, and their tacos are only $1.35 a piece.
