dried currants

I am looking for a source ofr dried currants. We used to buy very nice plumb ones at Trader Joes but ti appears they have been discontinued. Most of what we see appear to be dried up raisiny tiny fruits. I saw some once that were probably Sun maid but the package did not show you what was inside. Any thought would be greatly appreciated. They add such a nice fruit component to a pilaf.
Thanks.

SunMaid ones are made from the Zante grape. I had to settle for using them in my scones because that's all I could get.

My neighbor the Master Gardener told me that no one sells currant bushes (or gooseberries) because the bushes carry some kind of disease that kills massive acres of pine trees, so a lot of northern states won't let currant and gooseberry bushes across their border. Unless you know someone with a currant bush and a dehydrator. . .

check the bulk dried fruit section in your local health food store, they
usually have them.....

I've seen them at Whole Foods in the little prepackaged plastic tubs that they put dried fruits and nuts in. I haven't seen them in the bulk bins. Of course this might vary from WF to WF.

you can order them online at kalustyans.com.
