Sorry, can't help you with your question, but was so happy to see the word currants, because I just made currant scones. So when you do find them, hope you try this recipe.
Also, not really sure why you are looking for them, but did you think of using dried cranberries instead?

SunMaid Currants, sold next to the raisins, are made with tiny Zante grapes and are an acceptable substitute. I can't find real currants anywhere.
