Cream Filled Cupcakes
I am looking for a foolproof recipe for a cream filled cupcake to make for my husband's birthday. He wants a chocolate cupcake with cream filling (like a Suzy Q is how he put it). I bake a lot but I do not make cakes very often, so a great cupcake recipe would be much appreciated! Hopefully something reminiscent of a Hostess cupcake or Yankee Doodle or Suzy Q, but much better!

My sister makes a cake that's called "Just like a HoHo Cake." You make devil's food cake from a mix in a 13"x9" pan and when it's cooled, split it into two layers.
Mix 4 Tbsp. flour and 1 cup milk together. Heat over medium heat until thick. Let cool completely. With mixer, whip 1 stick butter, 1/2 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar until fluffy and no grains of sugar remain. Blend in flour/milk mixture and beat well. Add 1 tsp. vanilla and mix 2 minutes more. Refrigerate this filling while cake bakes and cools.
Spread the filling on the bottom cake layer and replace the top.
Frost with a jar of hot fudge sauce, heated slightly to make it spreadable. Refrigerate cake until serving.
