Stone fruits are back!

Plums, peaches, nectarines, plumcots, pluots, apriums, angelcots, and so on!

They're my absolute faves. And I'm pretty psyched that they're back. Carry on...

hooray!

...did I just year someone yell 'fresh-blended bellini' ??

Heh. We had cherries at the market, but it seems like it's a pretty small crop. I hear the peaches didn't fare very well either, but it's still early for those. I don't know if anyone local is growing the hybrids yet. We'll see.

We have excellent peaches and nectarines this year. So far, I've made Ginger Peach Nectarine Jam, Nectarine Coffee Cake, and Peach Ice Cream. Mmm, I love summer.

I got my hands on some lovely white-fleshed nectarines and ate all four in one sitting. My hubby went looking for one and was quite vexed I did not share.

We're still patiently waiting way up here in Canadia... but they're slowly trickling into markets and grocery stores around here in Waterloo. I can't wait - its my favorite time of fruit-year.

Peaches and such are perhaps the best part of summer!

My hands are wringing and ready to rush to the market and buy buy buy the pit fruits.

yesterday one of my clients saw the snack that was awaiting me: two apricots and a plum. she said, oh, you're so good! as if eating delicious, tree ripened fruit from the greenmarket was some kind of penance.

Fresh peaches = crack. So addictive...

I just had a black velvet apricot for the first time this week. Holy moly! I'm not usually a huge fan of apricots or plums but when you make a hybrid out of them and they are in season, watch out! My farm share for fruit starts next week so I'm eager to find out what I get.
