Smoked Paprika sub?
I am visiting family in a remote location and wanted to make a pulled pork dish that I always make at home, but of course I forgot to bring my stash of smoked paprika, something that makes the dish in my opinion.
Of course the limited supply of grocery stores here do not have smoked paprika, I can use normal paprika I know, but how can I add that nice smokey flavour? I saw liquid smoke at the grocery store yesterday, would that work?
Any other ideas? Thanks so much!

Use the grill to make a smoker?
Google stove top smoker if you are not using a grill.
In my own opinion, liquid smoke tastes too artificial.
Alternately, mix things up a bit, ditch the paprika recipe, and use a fennel spice rub on your pork.

Liquid smoke should do the trick. What about chipotle powder, is that available? (probably not if you can't find smoked paprika but decided to toss it out anyway)

I have never found smoked paprika anywhere. I am looking forward to this talk, maybe I can make my own too! COCO

You can order high quality smoke paprika from La Tienda.

Ancho chile powder has a great smoky flavor without heat, similar in flavor profile to smoked paprika.

I have tried to like liquid smoke, but it tastes like chemicals in an ash tray to me and gives me an immediate headache just from the smell...and I'm not a picky eater and I like natural smokey flavors. So be careful if you use that stuff. I can't believe I'm the only one with that reaction.
Depending on what's in/on the pork, you could add some smoke with fire-roasted peppers, onions, etc. It won't be the same as with smoked paprika, but nothing will be exactly the same.

There is artificially flavored liquid smoke, which is quite inferior, but natural liquid smoke is also widely available ; just check the ingredients. I use one by Colgin and was really surprised how much I like it.
Ancho chile powder has a nice flavor as mentioned above, and cumin can be helpful too. Even better if you toast them dry in a skillet before using.
