Sangria...via Franzia
OK, don't throw up just yet. My roommate randomly inherited a big box of White Zin Franzia from a wedding she recently went to. Kinda gross, I know, but we have a housewarming party coming up and I was wondering if anyone had ANY ideas on a cocktail we could concoct with this stuff to make it magically delicious and fit to serve to our friends. The only thing we could come up with was sangria. But what all could we add to it to make it not so...Franzia-ish? Any other ideas?

Triple sec, good rum and some cut up citrus fruit, make it and sit it in the fridge overnight. In the morning give it a splash of some fruit juice and BOOM its good to go.

I just graduated from college, so to many of my former classmates (and possibly myself on occasion ...), that box of Franzia is fine as it is!
You could add some ginger ale to it, and you could also add fresh berries soaked in rum to make it into a sangria.

to the wine add:
- some orange juice - not much
- 7Up or any other lemon/lime flavored soda - nowadays I make it with lemon flavored Perrier and add additional fresh lime juice
- Add apple, orange and lime slices
- Some sugar - organic granulated or that fast dissolving one...
- Ice cubes...
Salud!!! You'll now have a Pink Sangria
You could also add some passion fruit concentrate, Perrier or other sparkling water and some sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen) and have a Passion Fruit Spritzer...

We make pitchers of what we affectionately refer to as "stone-brain drink" for sipping mindlessly on the sunny patio on Sunday afternoons:
Cheap White wine, about half a pitcher's worth
assorted citrus fruits, squeezed with rinds and juice both tossed into the pitcher (at least 1 lemon and 2 limes)
Fill pitcher with ice cubes and seltzer water (lemon or lime flavor is especially good).
Sit and sip.

sounds like the makings of quite a hangover. but what the hell, it's fun while it's going down.
