Russian Mayo?
I just got back from a BBQ that was put on by a family from Russia and the grilled meat was soooo good. I asked how they made it and saw that it had been in a marinade that was "milky". They wouldn't tell me but said that it was "Russian Mayo".
Does anyone know what this might be or have you heard of a white, milky marinade for meats?
Thanks

I'm Russian and have never heard of anything like this. Very strange.
The only thing I can come up with is maybe buttermilk?
My parents always marinade their meat (especially for kabobs) in white vinegar and a bunch of thinly sliced onions.

I don't know. His wife just got back from Russia a couple of days ago and brought back spices. The marinade was milky and of course they won't tell me what it is.
