Russian Mayo?

I just got back from a BBQ that was put on by a family from Russia and the grilled meat was soooo good. I asked how they made it and saw that it had been in a marinade that was "milky". They wouldn't tell me but said that it was "Russian Mayo".

Does anyone know what this might be or have you heard of a white, milky marinade for meats?
