Planning a (non-raunchy) Bachelorette Party
I am planning my twin sister's bachelorette dinner for this summer- will be about 15-20 girls (ahem, young women) in their late 20's. Looking for some place "hip" with good food and fun cocktails but won't be too rough on our wallets. Please note there will be *no* genitalia-shaped items for this group- not that kind of party. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

What city is this taking place in?

if it's in NYC I recommend La Palapa or La Palapa Rockola. Great for groups, delicious, chic, fun but not annoying.

My non-raunchy bachelorette was dinner at Butter then drinks at Pravda. It can get a little pricey if you order a gazillion things, but we shared a lot of appetizers and desserts so it wasn't bad. We apparently missed a Demi and Ashton sighting by a day at Butter, not that we actually cared.

Mine was at Otto - there must have been a set party menu because they brought tons of delicious vegetable side dishes, several pizzas and endless bottles of wine. It was perfect.

@ mrsfoodissues - otto's is a great choice! it's perfect for large groups and not too expensive. all of the appetizers are great for sharing, and the pizzas are good too. try the fungi pizza.
i took my sister and her friends to sala one nine for her bachelorette. it's not my favorite restaurant food-wise but there's something for everyone and they do a great job serving large groups.
i think mexican / latin american places would also be a good choice. i recently went to a great place called rayuela that was "hip" and had interesting cocktails.
for more upscale, you could also try elettaria or tailor (tailor has amazing cocktails but i know they were having some monetary issues so i dont know if they're still open).

Tailor is still open and was hopping last night (the bar was, at least). Go and support them!

I also went to Pravda for part of my bachelorette. However the original plan was to go to Lucky Changs, they apparently have a pre-fix/open bar type thing which includes a show and karaoke. It didn't pan out because it was going to cost a little too much for a few friends and my MOH didn't want to leave anyone out. If I remember correctly, it was going to be about $150 a person, which included my cost. But remember, this includes drinks so it might be a good option.

do NOT do lucky chengs! It is completely cheese-tastic. it's also not as expensive as sjpalmer says, but the food is gross, the drinks are gross and the entertainment is.. well.. a little bit gross.
i am all for otto, but with a group of 12 or more you have to do group dining. which will run you anywhere from 60-100 a person based on your package selection (with unlimited wine, though!). it's absolutely delicious and completely worth the price, in my opinion.
palapa is a great, cheaper option as well. pravda will definitely be on the pricey side.
