One day & night in Boston - where should first-timers go?
My husband will be spending 1 night near Logan in July and we've never been to Boston before. I'd like suggestions for a casual lunch and slightly more upscale dinner on a Friday. We're fairly easy to please when it comes to food but don't necessarily care for Asian, Indian or heavy steak/prime rib places.

For lunch try Durgin Park Restaurant in Faneuil Hall Market Place

bouchee or joes on newbury street for lunch, and north end for dinner!

Santarpio's pizza is not far from the airport - not upscale, but fun. Great pizza.
I second Bouchee - very reasonable for Newbury St. - French bistro style look & menu.
North end is great for Italian, if the weather's nice you'll enjoy walking around in that neighborhood.

Anthony's Pier 4 is a Boston institution... right on the water, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Great seafood and cocktails.

um...skip Bartley's, as it's wayyy overrated...Boston Beer Works is pretty impressive, though I really enjoyed this place downtown called Kennedy's...nothing incredibly special, but it was a very comfortable irish pub with a great bar selection and good food...also, we came in at noon to do nothing but drink, and nobody treated us like the alcoholics we are, which was nice.
Mikey's is pretty vital...I forget where it is exactly except to say it's not far from Haymarket.

Figs in Beacon Hill is an awesome cozy little place owed by celeb chef Todd english that makes interesting pizzas in a brick oven. Its reasonably priced and very memorable!!
For seafood skip Union Oyster..way to crowded and touristy. Head a couple blocks away to NEptune oyster for a Lobster roll. Its a really beautiful interior with a laidback and delicious spread and oyster bar
