Happy Fathers' Day to all Dads! What's on the menu?
Happy Fathers' Day to all Dads out there today! Any special requests or favorites on the menu for today? I'm about to start some homefries to go with a ham, mushroom and onion omelet for my husband which the kids will serve to him along with a gift he'll love--an electric car polisher/buffer. The man loves washing and waxing his cars.
When I asked him what he'd like for dinner, he said he'd like a pastrami Reuben and homemade panko onion rings because he wants to have a Scrabble marathon with the kids later today and that's easy to eat while playing a game. What a great guy. So SE folks what's cooking in your house today? Any special plans?

Wow... we bought my husband an electric car polisher/ buffer this year as well. :-) Small world.
Hubby is from Hawaii and thus I made spam, eggs and rice for his breakfast (ugh, I know but he adores it). For dinner he said he'd like baby back ribs, homemade baked beans (just popped the bean pot in the oven to slow roast for hours on end), greek fries and my world famous key lime torte for dessert. Loads of work but he is so worth it. Happy father's day to all the dads out there!

we dont have human children, but the dogs got daddy an electric shoehorn (joke) and a huge bag of pistachios. they are also making dinner for him, shanks slow braised in tomato and stock, with grilled polenta rounds and a chopped veggie salad, and rolls in the shape of bog bones and paw prints, for dessert they are giving daddy a cake, Emerils flourless choc cake, with homemade vanilla ice cream.

Regular Sunday Dinner here but we have two 'Dads'. My son and my son-in-law. They are getting a baked ham (too damp, drippy and cool to cook out) baked beans, spinach salad, Texas toast, lemonade pie & chocolate cake. Huneybumper, my three grand dogs will be here too : ).

I am the dad in this house. For my Dinner I am Making big fat, juicy, Grilled Burgers. The kids and the wife are in charge of sides. I hinted I want onion rings, though that might be a trick to pull off. I figure to have a salad with that, and for dessert there is the last of the lemon meringue pie, and some strawberries. I thought about a black forest cake (my favourite) or rhubarb crisp (my favourite dessert) but I wanted to use the leftovers up.

Rib eye steaks, corn on the cob, either grill baked or garlic mashed potatoes (still deciding), guacamole, fresh tomato-grilled poblano salsa with chips, new radishes with a little soft butter for dipping and salt, small salads with home-made ranch dressing and crumbled blue cheese (one of his faves), pound cake with sweetened strawberries-blueberries and whipped cream.
I was going to make a rhubard kuchen too, but it's too hot to bake today.
Berries and cream it is!

i am treating my dad to a picnic on the beach... we'll be looking for a shade underneath a palmtree to enjoy some provencal sandwiches, a tomato/basil/mozzarella pasta salad, some natural sodas and hershey's kisses as dessert. He loves his kisses...
Hope he enjoys it...

Mark Bittman's oven roasted ribs, baked potato with the works, corn on the cob and pistachio ice cream. Skyped with my adult kids who are 6000 miles away...

Two USDA prime, bone-in, ribeyes. Salad, grilled corn on the cob. Chocolate Cake, I'm trying Edna Lewis' recipe.

If it stops raining, I'd like to light the grill and do a nice ribeye, but if that's not the case, my daughter is going to do penne alla vodka and I'm going to make a pesto coated flatbread to go with it.

Unfortunately I am not with my family today so I will be eating dinner alone... but I am having roasted zucchini, onions & sun-dried tomatoes along with an elk burger and spaghetti squash!
When I go home for the 4th of July... we will celebrate both father's day and my birthday (which is this Friday - the 26th)... I wonder what we will have then!

Made together with my dad: Individual Beef Wellingtons with Madeira Mushroom sauce-awesome! Grilled balsamic vegetables, Boursin mashed potatoes, and Cheese straws.
My mom is now cutting the Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie I made for dessert.
Wonderful day, my sisters are several states away so I always get extra bonus points for being the homebound kid who loves her dad most! Happy Father's day!

My dad's favorite meal: rigatoni with red sauce and pecorino romano, strong red Sicilian wine, and a triple layer chocolate fudge cake with buttercream frosting for dessert. He usually likes meatballs, too, but we're trying to cut back on red meat, so we stuck to just the pasta.

Meatloaf (home ground meat, thanks @juliette527 for the cuts), garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus & key lime pie.
He is from St. Louis and misses meatloaf.

Leftover pulled pork + sides from massive rained-out Saturday block party. Totally perfect and gave this dad some extra time with the kids.

I made breakfast for the hubster with my little girl. Then dinner by myself in the afternoon (she was sick and in bed by that time).
Breakfast was vanilla cafe' au lait, bacon, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs (my girl's specialty), sliced tomatoes, accompanied by butter, jam and bowls of juicy nectarines and cherries.
Dinner was a garden salad and vinaigrette, meatballs in a mushroom and onion gravy spiked with a spoonful of creme fraiche, herbed mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, and slices of toasted pound cake with fresh cherries and sweetened vanilla creme fraiche.
Can you tell I was inspired by demands for a manly meal on one hand and by Kerry Saretsky's post last week on the other? Making creme fraiche was too easy by the way. And so good sweetened with a bit of sugar and vanilla then over the cherries and cake. Definitely will do that again. Now it will be on that list of stuff my friends think I am crazy to make myself, except none of them even know what creme fraiche is!!!

Papa and I prepared a great meal together:
- steamed Russian crab legs with drawn butter
- grilled porterhouse (rare)
- fresh baby red potatoes with a shallot/dill cream sauce
- caesar salad
@longrally - oh but damn; I would pick pulled-pork any day!!!
