Fun coffee shops, UWS or Soho

I'm coming to make my annual pilgramage to NY, where I used to live before I moved to Atlanta and fell out of touch with the good places to go in NY! I need some recommendations of good spots to meet friends for coffee/treats, and/or a glass of wine in my afternoons. I imagine I'll be spending most of my time on the UWS and the soho/west village/meatpacking area. Faves?
