Does anyone use the oil sprayers (or the misto)?

I've been meaning to find an oil sprayer. When i search for reviews online, I have found that some people have had theirs clog up or not have enough pressure to spray.
Has anyone had any luck? Or can recommend a good one?

Also, I have heard that you can add soy lecithin (found in health supplement stores) to oil to make it more.. spray-able.
Has anyone tried this? Please weigh in. To me, a lot of the ones i've seen are a bit pricey, especially of its going to fail on me.

Thanks!

It sounded like a good idea to me, too, but I never found one that sprayed well. And if you don't use them for a while, they do clog. Canola oil seemed to be the worst.

I ended up buying spray bottles. Just regular trigger-style spray bottles. Nothing fancy or expensive. The spray pattern isn't as fine as with the mist-style, but they work.

I got the misto as a gift. As long as you pump it frequently the pressure is fine. I like that it helps me use less oil than I would use pouring or brushing on something, but I admit I would not have bought one on my own.

I bought mine on impulse. I had an extra Bed & Bath coupon and got carried away. I use it a few times a year to spray Absinthe into the cocktail glass instead of doing the swirl and discard method when making a Sazarac. I hate to waste expensive Absinthe. I know it's ridiculous.

I enjoy my Misto, but as mentioned above, it requires frequent repumping.

I got 2 of the Crate and Barrel ones since I had a gift card to spend. It works well, no additives required. The lid acts as a pump, about 3 pumps before using, it's ready to go.

I have canola oil in one, and olive oil in the other.

Everyone I know who has had a misto has had it break within a year or 2... if you're willing to ante up to replace it fairly frequently, then it is a good tool.

i use a plastic spray bottle and fill it with olive oil..... it works fine.

They are a piece of junk, save your money.

Mistos definitely get gunky. And the oil tends to go rancid quickly- something to do with the sealing mechanism.

I used to work at a kitchen supply store, and that was the most frequently returned item. Skip it.

I had a gadget that was all plastic, about the same stuff most squeeze bottles are made from, that pumped up and locked. It was relatively inexpensive and worked like a champ. Sadly, I left it at an ex-girl friend's house and have yet to find another one. This thing was fairly small and had a dome shaped top that unlocked with a quarter turn to pump up the pressure.

I wish I could remember the name of the manufacturer because I'd like have another one. Every trigger type sprayer I have tried will not spray a fine enough mist.

I use a plastic spray bottle I got 4 of them for 2 bucks. No problems.

I bought a Misto at Marshall's for $8. It's worth that much, but not the regular $20+/-. It's nice because I always forget to buy cooking spray at the grocery store, but I always have olive oil. You do have to pump it a lot to get a good spray. But overall, it's generally decent.

I think anyone trying to diet buys a Misto at one time or another...Then bails on it...LOL. I'm going to get one of those 99 cent spray bottles and try my luck with that.

Anyone who uses the squeeze trigger spray bottles, do you find they clog? Do you cover the opening when not in use?

I got a Misto as a wedding gift, had it more than a year and a half, and haven't had any problems with it. I do pump it regularly, but that's a small price to pay when I look at saving oil/calories from oil, IMO. Probably would have bought one for myself, but not at full price. Hope this helps!
