Dining Recommendations Gun Hill/White Plains Rd

I'll be in that neighborhood of the Bronx (around 211th St) and would detour to any place interesting if there is a strong recommendation.

Does anyone know any places that could be interesting or specialty shops I should check out while in that area?

Make it over to the Arthur Ave.section off Fordham and enjoy the variety of Italian fare both for shopping and dining...There are plenty to pick from but one of my favorite spots is Mario's where the Migliucci family is going on 90 years of serving their 'vera' Neapolitan Italian cuisine. If you are in the mood, ask for one of their pizzas which is not listed on the menu but one of the best in the city. www.mariosrestarthurave.com
If you can make it to City Island, the quaint seaport village in the Bronx, check out Artie's Steak & Seafood right on City Island Ave., one of the more creative spots along the strip and darn good too! wwwartiesofcityisland.com

At White Plains Rd. near 216th St., you'll find African/American Restaurant, the Nigerian-Ghanaian eatery formerly known as Aziza. And a few blocks south of the Gun Hill station, on Burke Ave., there's a cluster of venues that (last I looked) included a couple of interesting Caribbean joints.
