chicken on the bone.....

i'm really amazed when i roast chicken pieces or a whole roast chicken at how much meat people leave on the bone.... i feel like the poor chicken is looking down from heaven thinking that it lost it's life for nothing. i don't know, i'm a bone person.... rib eye with the bone, centercut pork chops with the bone, maybe it's not polite in certain circles to pick up the bone and chew ... but man, people are really missing the flavor.

are you a bone person or not?

at the risk of sounding like an actress in a bad porn movie, Give me the bone baby!!!!

I'm a bone person all the way, and I cringe when I see how much meat people leave on chicken wings, especially my daughter.

there's something so primal about picking up a bone and sucking it dry.

(Sorry, sounds um... inappropriate)

But I love ribs!

Am i allowed to say I'm having a boner right now? And I'm a woman?
There's nothing better than meat cooked on the bone even if you're going to take it off of the bone before serving (that way the cook's treat is all yours when you're all alone in the kitchen).

Yes with pork. Chicken and turkey it depends I only like white meat so yes, to the bone. Dark meat ehhhh

I'm the one who leaves all that meat on the bone and hubby comes along after me and happily picks it off.

The other day I ordered a bone in ribeye in a restaurant - I wanted to eat all of it and chew on the bone, but was with my husband's coworkers and didn't want to look like a goof to them (I don't know them well enough yet). So I left a bit of meat on it and asked the server to pack it up for me. When she was taking the plate, I said "You know that's never going to make it till tomorrow. When I get home I am going to gnaw on that bone!" She laughed (so did the coworkers) and said, "The chef will be so pleased to hear that!" I love any meat on the bone and my husband gets the biggest kick out of how clean I pick them. But he does it now too!

Bone! Ribs, steak, chops, chicken. Yum.

On one of our first dates, my future SO ate only the top part of a bone-in chicken breast, leaving all that delicious meat below (including the "tender!"). I couldn't stand it. I politely asked, "are you gonna finish that?" and promptly reduced the piece of chicken to a pile of bones.

Opposites DO attract; works for me because I have extra bones to clean off!

I love to prepare a whole chicken; I simply suck when it comes to getting all of the meat off. I need lessons on how to successfully and completely carve a bird!

Chicken's no good if its not on the bone. It's like eating a big plate o' boring if its not bone in.

There's something about cooking meat on the bone that adds a completely new dimension to the flavor. Whenever possible, I leave the bone in... I am happy to report that my life's mate is not a "bone person" so I get to clean two piles of goodness; another confirmation of God's blessings toward me ;~D

I'm definitely a bone picker. Give me ribs or a steak with bone in - and of course chicken. I seem to be on the same page as czken these days - my BF is not a bone-cleaner so I generally finish what he leaves on the bone. (Not sure I would have confessed that if someone more brave than I hadn't done it first...LOL.)

I will clean bones in a restaurant unless I'm stuffed. If I have a steak bone that's still loaded, I'll take it home and enjoy it later that day if I get to feel peckish a couple of hours after the meal.

My mother absolutely insisted we clean every bone of any piece of meat we served ourselves at dinner - anything less would be wasteful.

XH-2 always insisted on boneless breast of chicken because bone-picking was something done by people brought up in "lesser" environments than he. God, I should have known on so many levels that relationship was doomed.

hi all! i'm so thrilled to read your bone-eating posts..... i was feeling so lonely! interesting -- my OH leaves so much meat on the bone .... i get to clean his up, too. or i pick it off for the dogs. poor dogs don't get anything left from my bones. (but i always save them a little something - i'd rather give them the eye of the meat than the bone... grrrr)

ditto ditto ditto! I especially love chop bones--lamb chops or pork chops. Whenever we have chops, I devour mine first and sit oggling my husband's plate practically drooling until he's finished with his meager pickin's. Its all I can do to keep from grabbing them off his plate. He says I'm like a dog, but not as well trained :) He leaves so much on them, its practically another meal!

On the bone all the way. That's where the flavour is, and as others said, meat, particularly poultry cooked off the bone is not worth the effort. If it's particularly savoury I crack the bone with my teeth and get at that delicious marrow.

droooolll....

Any bone on my plate doesn't have anything you can give your pooch to.
During years that I had braces as an adult I couldn't eat meat on the bone, so I'm trying to make it up now.
But my real forte is a whole fish. It would look like a clean fish skeleton after I eat it. that's what pointy chopsticks are for!
