Cape May dining
Going to Cape May, NJ in July. I haven't been there for a few years. I need the BEST place for breakfast(aside from the mad batter) the BEST place for lunch, and the BEST place for dinner. Price is no object, it can be expensive or cheap, as long as the food is great!!!!!

I haven't been for years, but I've always loved 410 Bank Street. The Washington Inn is excellent as well. Enjoy!

We usually stay at B&Bs so I can't recommend breakfast for you. And the HUGE breakfast we get usually means we skip lunch, so on to dinner.
My two absolute favorites are Union Park (my husband swears theirs is the best lamb he's ever tasted) and the Ebbitt Room which is just first class all the way. Show up early for your reservation at the Ebbitt Room and have a cocktail on the porch. Union Park is bring your own, don't forget the wine.

I would also recommend the Ebbitt Room in the Virginia. I have never eaten there, but I have dined at other restaurants in the area that the new chef has worked at. His name is Lucas Manteca. I believe he is from Argentina. At the other establishment he used to serve a barbecue plate. Fabu! He worked with the local farmers and came up with such elegant and fresh dishes. I just contacted my friend who told me that she was going to dine there and she said she was so pleased with her meal. The phone number is 609-884-5700.
I know of no other breakfast or lunch places. I lived just north of there 30 years ago and it has changed a lot. I am sure you will come across wonderful fare.
If you would like to get on the Garden State parkway and travel north (not too far) to Stone Harbor you will find another great place in Blackfish. The chef/owner, Chip Roman has just opened up his Stone Harbor branch. Just take a right onto the causeway (signs will let you know where) and just as you come into SH at the first light you will take a right on to 3rd Ave and Blackfish is on the left. He has another in Pa. He has gotten all kinds of great reviews, though we have not gotten a chance to go there since it is so new. Maybe Father's Day.
Also in SH is Quahogs. It is a homage to the New England fish shacks. It is very upscale in its cuisine and had the best smelts I could have ever imagined and the clam chowder was the unbelievable. It is BYO, thank goodness, because you will be opening your wallet for all three of these places. Blackfish has a liquor license and you'll need to check about the Ebbitt Room.
Sounds like a really special time for you. Don't forget to take champagne to the beach and watch the sunset....or sunrise. Be discreet:-)
Somewhere I have reviews that the Phila Inquirer food guy does every summer and if I can find them and there are some Cape May places I will post again. Check in later-maybe tomorrow.

Nothing from Cape May showed up from Laban's reviews from last year, but I found the reviews from two years ago. Lucky Bones Backwater Grill is located at 1200 Rt. 109 right as you enter CM. It might be a nice lunch place. Recommended were mussels/Gorgonzola sauce, the pizzas, flat iron steak and tilefish. Now mind you this was from two years ago and the chef may not even be there anymore. You can call for an update at 609-884-2663.

I agree with everything that has been said, only I think that the Peter Shield's Inn is also a classy and beautiful dining experience (for dinner). The restaurant has a gorgeous beach view and they usually have a piano player (who takes requests!).
I've been going to Cape May every year for my entire life. For breakfast I've always been a fan of McGlade's on the boardwalk. Lunch I typically would eat at the house but I my affinity for Tommy's Hot Dogs and a frozen Coke gets the better of me sometimes. Unfortunately my favorite places for dinner have closed (The Anchorage, Peaches) but I've had nothing but great experiences at Fresco's, Union Park and The Lobster House. (Fresco's has THE BEST seared scallops in light saffron cream sauce in the entire world. no joke)
Have a fabulous time in CM, it is a wonderful vacation spot!

I highly recommend George's for breakfast - it's nothing fancy but the food is excellent! I had a bananas foster french toast that was to die for last summer. Lucky Bones is a great spot for lunch or dinner. We love Italian cuisine and really enjoy Cucina Rosa and Godmother's. We have never tried the Ebbitt Room (a tad to upscale for us) but I've heard it's excellent. Enjoy!
