What ever happened to Whip 'n Chill?
The instant chocolate mousse fro the 1960's or 70's. Is there anything like it on the market today?

Funny, this very same question was asked two days ago at the Cook's Illustrated discussion boards. There was an answer posted there.

That sounds vaguely familiar. There are still some instant mousse products I've seen at the grocer, and King Arthur Flour company also sells some on their website -- or at least they used to. No idea how good any of them are, though.

And next to that on the grocer's shelf was Jello 1-2-3. It separated into 3 layers as it sat in the fridge. I recall it had something like 20 ingredients in it and none were pronouncable. It was yucky in hindsight, but pretty cool at the time.

i don't know if that is what it is called but I see the box of instant mousse in the pudding and jello section.

Kathy - there was also Shak-a-Puddin' and Beaucoup (although I don't think the instant pudding was spelled that way). I remember 1-2-3! LOL.

I think Dr. Oetker puts out a reasonable chocolate mousse and I have seen it recently.
