Barney Greengrass - quintessential
Murray's Sturgeon - unbeatable
Zabar's - needs no introduction
H&H bagels - buy your bagels here, go eat them in the park
Arties Delicatessen - not as good as Barney G but you will be fed.

Fine and Schapiro: Solid, by the numbers deli. nothing really stands out, but nothing is sub-standard either.
Artie's has an excellent Brisket Reuben (untraditional but seriously delicious), good pastrami if you make sure it's well-steamed, and first-rate hot dogs.
