talking ads: NO WAY

Am I the only person annoyed by the talking ad on SE that instructs us how to wash strawberries only RIGHT before we use them, etc?

Yes, I could just turn my sound off, but that gets in the way of my Pandora.

SE, are talking ads necessary? or if they are, can you only put talking ads that have a mute button?

I've never seen that ad. Is it a popup or do you have to click on it?

use an ad blocker.

I haven't gotten that ad. I do get the washing machine ad that automatically enlarges so when I try to click something on the page it ends up sending me to another website.

@Joyyy: could you tell me more about this ad so I can track it down? Ads on the site shouldn't autoplay sound or video, and if they are expandable, should have a close and/or mute/stop button.

I have an ad blocker and it pops up on mine, too - @Alaina, I think it's for Kraft or something, there's also a pop-up one for salad dressing. It pictures a giant bowl of strawberries, and some lady talking...the strawberries move, but it's basically the only graphic.

It's the kraft light raspberry vinegarette dressing banner ad that talks about best storage/use/etc of strawberries. Perhaps there's a mute button that I for some reason can't see, but who knows, I didn't see anything on it but an invitation to click for more details. I clicked around the SE site for a while to get it to come up again, and right now it's not talking at me, so now I'm just confused, because I hear it somewhat often. *shrug*

Thanks for the effort, btw, I'm not against ads, just the kind that make noise and state the obvious :)

It's at the top of my screen right now, but it's not making noise. I actually haven't heard it in awhile, maybe it only makes noise sometimes?

Got it. By default, the audio should be mute but yes, it seems like it's a little buggy and everyone once and a while the audio gets tripped up. Sorry about that! There's a mute/unmute button and a close button on the ad, I've highlighted both in this image:

damn you're speedy. (never saw the graphics/buttons cause I never "roll over for more details"). Thanks!

use Firefox.
