SE'er Food Blogs

Ok, so I already pulled a few of bitchin camero's recipes into my regular rotation, as briefly I mentioned in another thread.

I know there have been other threads on what your favorite food blogs are, but I want to know who else on SE has their own food blog, so that all your recipes are belong to us! heh

141 Comments:

Hi, Joyyy: We do... Ravenous Couple:Cooking up Life.We specialize in Vietnamese food, but have other cuisine as well... I would guess that there are plenty of SE readers with there own food blog.

I share a food blog at
http://pithyandcleaver.com

Come visit us!

Our blog began totally focused on food and wine, especially in the St. Louis area, but we have just begun to add on movie and theater reviews, as Mr. Meatloaf is well known as a critic in those areas hereabouts.
www.stlouiseats.typepad.com

Some recipes, some shopping, lots of restaurants, some travel.

Hi, mine is MangoTomato.

I come up with most of my own recipes and they are very easy to make, but taste great.

Thanks for starting the thread, joyyy; it'll be nice to have a roundup all in one place!

Me, I'm over at the SIMMER blog. Some recipes, some dish ideas, some bitching about grammar & usage, some fiction-writing talk, some miscellany, lots of photographs.

My friends and I have one called Who Cooked What:

www.whocookedwhat.blogspot.com

Check it out!

I have a food blog, Hungry Desi at (you guessed it) www.hungrydesi.com. It's mostly Indian vegetarian recipes that are made easy, but I also share non-Indian vegetarian recipes too. Check it out!

Nice thread...looking forward to expanding my blog roll.

My blog is called Ambrosia Quest. It is a shared journey in hedonistic pleasure seeking. I blog exclusively about that which delights my senses and psyche - be it food, travel, entertainment or other lifestyle features that I find luscious - with no concern as to whether it is glamorous or humble.

I hope you will stop by and indulge in life's rich and sensuous bounty with me.
The more, the merrier!

Cheers,

~ Paula

Thanks for asking, Joyyy.

I've got two food blogs:

Altered Plates -- Focused on baking and cooking with agave nectar instead of other sweeteners. Recipes, how-to videos, product reviews, and book reviews.

Here and There -- This one has mutated from a food blog to one that also showcases garden photos, travel, and more. Also, if you know anyone who is a nurse or who is dealing with a stereotactic breast biopsy, I detailed my experience with the procedure (some nurses are now using it to help their patients know what to expect).

I'm just getting one off the ground now - its CookLiftStudy It (will) mainly focus on healthy, gluten free fare on a college budget.

Nice thread! Mine is:

http://thehungrydog.blogspot.com

Ramblings on cooking, eating, restaurants, and books. And an occasional recipe.

Mine is Seasoned With Abandon....and I have abandoned it recently! Must get to posting, we've had some great new meals recently. Mostly recipes, and some garden photos.

I have one! It's technically food and theater.

http://godthatsgoodblog.blogspot.com

http://mattthebutcher.com it's been a while since I updated mine,but please come visit !

Now Serving is my collection of photos, recipes, anecdotes and reviews. Stop by anytime! I only wish I had more time to devote to it.

OK, let's do it the old fashioned way: http://nowserving.mycookingblog.com/

Shee.

i have a blog that will hopefully be more food focused in the future, but right now i am living in a dorm and am focsuing on finals so it is completely lacking in the food department. i will post a link once summer is here and i have more time to cook as i please!

I have my own personal food blog called she eats.

And I also man (or woman?) the food blog over at the Houston Press, called Eating Our Words.

Come play!

Hooray roundup!

I can't offer recipes, but a friend and I review restaurants in the greater NYC area.

http://whoatethebigapple.blogspot.com

Wow! A lot of interesting blogs I'll definitely have to check out. Gotta keep this tab open for a bit.

I have a food blog where I discuss things I ate, places I ate at, or just food thoughts in general.

My girlfriend and I have a sort of restaurant-review styled food blog. We recently went on a week-long 3,000 mile trip around parts of the US where we documented all the good places we ate.

Happy Jack Eats.

i love comfort food and the memories/stories associated with them. my blog is mostly simple, homemade meals, filipino cooking, and fun eats that are all a part of my everyday life.

My blog is KarmaFreeCooking - where I share my vegetarian recipes and lifestyle with you all. I also post commentary on how to eat vegetarian when traveling, how to transition to a vegetarian lifestyle, benefits of a vegetarian diet, favorite products, menus, etc.

You're all invited to check it out!! I also have it available in ESPAñOL if anyone prefers it that way.

Mine is relatively new -- with recipes foraged from my favorite cookbooks and the general blogscape, plus an ongoing list of nyc favorites...

http://muchdependsondinner.blogspot.com/

I registered one a while back called
Kitchen Catabolism
Sadly, I've been so swamped I haven't yet posted anything on it. ... I will be doing something soon, I promise. For now its just About Me and a photo of a stack of sweeeet mini pitas I made last year.

i can never get the URL's right.
KitCat

My blog is poorly tended because as a full time student I don't have a lot of free time about 8 months of the year. Nonetheless it is my pride and joy, it can be found here

Here's mine: What Smells So Good? http://yummysmells.blogspot.com

http://cookbrooke.blogspot.com/
Usually recipes I've made many, many times and would recommend for anyone...though occasionally I'll throw in a a new experiment.

Mine is called Belly Button Lint at http://cassaendra.blogspot.com/ -- it's a collection of stuff ranging from eating, cooking, movies, books, pets, etc.

I have a blog at http://notesfromhomeplates.com/

My blog details what I make with the contents of my box of fruits and veggies from my local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm.

I update two or three times a week.

I'm at Wicked Good Dinner, which follows my food writing, culinary school, and competitive cooking competitions :-)

Thank you guys for putting these on here! Nice to put a name with a face, so to speak.

oh I want to check all you guys out!! Mine is The Blank Plate

I'm www.eastvillagekitchen.com - I blog recipes (sometimes original, often modified from other authors) and yammer on about nothing in particular.

Hi, mine is Sweet E's Kitchen. http://sweeteskitchen.blogspot.com/. I blog (mostly) original recipes and share some of my eats around Austin.

I started one last fall as well....intending it to be someplace I could write about food, and keep in touch w/family.....when I looked at it today, I realized I hadn't written anything there since Thanksgiving! Thanks @engmcmuffin...glad I'm not the only one suffering from blog neglect..hehehe...
I think it's the facebook addiction actually...but I do plan on posting lots of summer food porn & recipes....at least those are my best intentions!

My blog is here: Shelbs & Cheese

Since this is pretty much the best target audience, I have a question. My camera recently broke (making for significantly less awesome food-blogging). Can anybody recommend a (not-too-hardcore) camera for me? I'd prefer to stay away from the SLRs. Thanks!!

http://verysmallanna.com/

So many desserts you'll get cavities just from reading!

mine is Read Eat Rinse Repeat, where i talk about my favorite things - books and cooking! i mean to update it once a week, but that doesn't always happen.

http://www.barrypopik.com/

It started as a "Big Apple" blog when I lived in NYC, but I added the Lone Star State Dictionary when I moved to Austin, TX.

I'm a consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary and a contributor to the Dictionary of American Regional English, Historical Dictionary of American Slang, and the Yale Book of Quotations.

I thoroughly research the origins or food words, food slang, and food phrases. I've been mentioned on "A Hamburger Today" about the origin of "hamburger" and "Slice" about the origin of "pizza."

My blog has about 4,300 entries and I make all of about $4 a day on 30,000 hits.

I'm at Omniamare, with food essays, recipes, and photos.

What a great list!

@Shelby, We bought my 9 year old daughter her very own Nikon Coolpix camera. It takes THE BEST pictures and is super simple to use.

@joyyy great thread indeed, and thanks for the help yesterday.

i'm over at kitchen geeking

I have a food blog where I occasionally post recipes but we focus mainly on restaurant reviews.

http://forkyou.wordpress.com/

@Shelby: I use a Nikon D60 (DSLR). It's really easy to use, but can be a bit clunky and not so stealthy.

My husband has a CoolPix that takes great pictures, small, extremely easy to use, inexpensive, and comes in an assortment of pretty colors. You'll need to buy a memory card or you'll end up having to download often (camera memory holds 4 or 5 pics on high res, IIRC), but the cards, as you probably already know, are really cheap.

I've used Nikon/Nikkormat cameras since I was 3 years old, so my view of their products probably borders on fanaticism...and reveals how old I am. :P

I have a blog called the 'Clean Plate Club'. It is still in its infancy - but I try to post weekly. I have a few new posts on the docket - so more to come shortly....

www.tcpcc.blogspot.com

please pay a visit!

I have a food blog for people who have dietary restrictions because they are on dialysis. It's a low phosphorus (milk, cheese, nuts) and low sodium (we could all use this!) diet. It's meant to free people from feeling that they can only eat the same thing every day in order to stay healthy.

link, strong, em

Mine is very very new, and right now focused on gardening (to improve the eventual eating, of course!) But I'm hoping to have restaurant reviews as well as cooking added. In fact a chili recipe is going up shortly.

Although it's called Benito's Wine Reviews, I write about food, cocktails, and cigars as well. I've had a couple of posts featured here on SE.

Benito's Wine Reviews
http://wine-by-benito.blogspot.com

On my links to the left you can find other food and wine bloggers from the Memphis area.

Awesome, I can't wait to check out all these new blogs (not that I don't already read a million food blogs, but still!).

I do reviews of restaurants in the Triangle area of North Carolina.

http://www.trianglegoodeats.com

Relatively new to SE (huge reader, not so much commenter) and my husband's and my blog is Take Back Your Kitchen.

I've had a blog for over a year now - it's mainly food/ pop culture related. Check it out guys:
http://taylorshocks.wordpress.com

Hi! Mine is here:
http://chocolatechiptrips.blogspot.com/
Very new. Lots of desserts and some uncommon Indian recipes.

Shelb, I use a Canon PowerShot A590 over at Luna Pier Cook because the camera has a decent macro lens for the close-in shots.

I write about eating and cooking without having a sense of smell at
link.

Well, since we're sharing...
Beyond The Kitchen Sink
...not so much recipes, but certainly food and the stuff we cook it with!

@ shelby I really really love my Cannon sd 1100 its so easy to use and the macro feature makes food look beautiful.

I recently started a blog about good food deals in NYC, with Flushing, Queens being one of my favorite areas to explore. I love cheap finds.

I've been posting delicious, simple recipes, nothing mediocre.

I blog about living, gardening and eating frugally at:

http://swampyankeesfromouterspace.blogpost.com

I blog randomly mostly about food, vegetarian or vegan. Now that summer is here and the kids are out of school, there should be plenty of cooking here. Plus we are already over 100 degrees, hence http://onehotcook.blogspot.com/

it's half cooking, half lifestyle - me like food + parties.

I'm loving checking out all these blogs! Thanks for starting this.

My blog, The Brave Potato, is about adventurous home cooking, although at the moment I'm still chronicling my recent trip to Asia.

ok all of you guys need to go to www.thetravellingcarrot.com and place your recipes there, and get some new ones as well. every time I need to make something I always go there, and whenever I invent something new I place it on there as well.

Ahhh! This is so awesome. Great thread!

My friend and I blog recipes and our food adventures at http://www.blondieandbrownie.blogspot.com

http://cucumberpandan.blogspot.com - Eating & Cooking in Jakarta (Indonesia), where I cover mostly (but not limited to) Indonesian cuisine.

Wow! I think I've only visited a handful of these blogs. I can't wait to check them all out when I have some down time.

My food blog is Tummy Treasure, but I have been in a horrible slump the last few weeks and have barely posted at all. Normally I post at least five times a week, and I focus on comfort food with some seasonal eating thrown in as well.

http://www.pigtrip.net
Reviews, news and essays related to barbecue restaurants from New York City to Boston and throughout New England.

Until recently I was more of a reader than a poster, but I do have my own blog about traditional Latin food with a focus on Cuban: http://hungrysofia.com/

Wow - Great list! This'll sure give me some good summer reading material. Mine's Dave's Kitchen. I write posts about cooking, with some recipes, and I also cover what's happening at the New York City Farmers' Markets. Enjoy!

This blog is a collection of pics and recipes for some of my recent cooks. A lot of it is about dishes I’ve cooked on our large Big Green Egg ceramic cooker, but there are also a growing number of gluten-free recipes.

I am so going to have to view all of these blogs in this thread! I have my own - based on recipes that are easy to cook at home!

My relatively new blog is http://www.edibleusable.com - a blog about usability and user experience (what I do for work) and food and cooking (one of the things I do for fun). Check it out and let me know what you think!

I write Appoggiatura, http://haleysuzanne.wordpress.com . It's a collection of original recipes from my kitchen. I write up what I'm currently cooking so the recipes remain relevant and seasonal. And, I got a check+ in sharing in Kindergarten, so they're fair game. :)

Hi there, I'm at http://the-itis.blogspot.com

(But you will have to really dig to get any recipes out of the 2 blogs, their hidden within posts and ideas, not easily accessible or always written out in a recipe you can steal, per se.)

Sorry.

@Madelyn -- KarmaFreeCooking is one of my favorite blogs! I love it. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into it.

While I'm at it, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you food bloggers. The time, effort, and enthusiasm you all put into your blogs delights, entertains, and educates the rest of us.

Thank you all!

So wonderful to have so many fellow writers! I actually have two blogs to share. One is my personal blog: www.thedilettantista.wordpress.com which covers, well, EVERYTHING, cooking, restaurants, movies, etc. I started it this summer when I was living in New York City for an internship, so it is especially heavy on NYC eating.

I am also a contributing writer to Carpe Durham, a food blog that focuses on eating in Durham, North Carolina. The blog was started a few years ago by Duke law students, and I am a newer writer. The blog is a great source if you live in the Triangle area!

http://carpedurham.com/

My food blog is at http://www.simplecomfortfood.com and I tend to focus on easy, family style comfort food with somewhat of an ethnic focus.

Hi, my blog is at http://soupbelly.com and I blog whatever I feel like cooking that day. I have a background in photography so my site focuses on that as well. Please check it out!

My blog is unvegan.com and I write about eating without vegetables. It's pretty funny, so check it out!

Look, all of us want more blog traffic, and there is no way we can read all of our collective blogs, but we should really make an effort to check out at least other 5 SE's blogs if we post our own in this thread --after all, not fair to 'shill' if you don't help others out!

there are a lot of great blogs here - i subscribe to a few already. i am not surprised they are SE readers.

i started both of my blogs last april. they are about pickling & jamming and also local, seasonal, and organic eating.
