Indian Yogurt Sauce?
Hello everyone!
I hope you guys had a good weekend.
I ordered some Indian food this weekend it was great!
The place I ordered from messed-up on my order and sent me this really really REALLY tasty sauce. It was a yogurt-based, with some cilantro, cucumber and I think it had some corriander seeds in it...so good! Almost like a tzatziki sauce I would think.
Anyone know what this is or how to make it?
Thanks in advance :D

@bearsarefree - haha alright I could have done some research!
"Vegetables such as cucumber and onions and sometimes garlic are mixed in. The mixture is served chilled. Raita has a cooling effect on the palate which makes it a good foil for spicy Indian dishes."
I can't wait to make it! My new bestest-condiment *drewl*

Definitely raita. It's an Indian yogurt sauce that has many variations. My favourite is with cucumber, mint or coriander, cumin and salt.

Raita is available in my grocery's dip section, beside hummus and red pepper spread, etc... but I have made my own as well.
A thick roasted red chili pepper lamb curry... topped with a spoonful of raita - so good! The one I made had chopped fresh cilantro, and toasted whole cumin seeds...

Yoghurt sauce typically with mint, cucumber (peeled, salted briefly and drained of excess moisture), onion...etc etc. but those are your basics.
Damnit...now I'm hungry for a keema naan and a lamb shatkora.

No onions or garlic! And definitely no mint. Maybe cilantro, but that's usually used in tomato raita and not in the cucumber version. (I'm Indian - I know!)

Interesting. I guess most all the indian restaurants I've ever been to in the UK got it wrong...of course most cooks hail from bangladesh so perhaps a regional bias?

@charm city:
I didn't taste mint in it;
I knew there was cilantro in it!
And whole coriander seeds right?
HOLY MAN I love this stuff
