How to keep leftover avocado?

I really love adding avocado to my sandwiches daily, but I need suggestions for keeping the remainder of the fruit fresh in the fridge! What is the best way to preserve the rest so that I can enjoy an equally delicious avocado sandwich the next day? And how long will it last in the fridge?

I use half an avocado at a time. When I twist it open, I use the non-pit half, and stick the half with the pit still in it back in the fridge wrapped in a bit of plastic wrap, a baggie, or in a tupperware. The unused half is always still gloriously green when I go back for it the next day. Can't imagine leaving avocado uneaten for longer than a day though!

i wrap in foil, making sure to press the foil against the open part of the avocado. i always get great results. i used to squeeze lemon juice and it would brown. one day i got lazy and didn't and my avocado stayed green. i was surprised.

I put lime juice on my avos and they never brown. Buy really small ones if you can so you can finish them in one or two uses.

yup, leave the pit in the half that you're not going to eat, wrap it in saran, or foil .... it works for me.... they don't stick around to often here.... gulp.

I usually cut avocado in wedges... that's the usual way to cut avocado if you're not using it all in one sitting. I find that Glad Press and Seal wrap works best. I wrap the left over avocado with pit intact as tightly as possible. this tend to keep is fresh for a few days. You may have to cut a bit the exposed flesh, but the rest should be fine...
