growing artichokes in Arizona
I have a plant in the front yard doing great. Do I let the first bud grow to a flower and wait till next season for more?

I live in Southern California and have 3 artichokes in the garden. The ones that are doing better this year are the ones that I let go up to seed last year. An extra bonus was that I had seeds to start new plants for this year. Granted, I gave most of them away, as I didn't want a solely artichoke garden. Last year, I only got one artichoke per plant, but this year, I'm getting One very large, a couple medium, and several small per plant. They haven't needed much water, as they're a thistle. I hope this helps.
