going to Peter Luger next week...
...for the first time. I hear the wine list is mediocre, and they don't allow byob, even with corkage. Anyone been recently? What's good to drink there? The idea of drinking beer with a porterhouse steak kinda makes me sad.

As you said, not much of a wine list...the last time I ate there, I had the syrah....it was decent enough.

It's infuriating. If they can't be bothered to have a real wine program, then they should charge a corkage fee and allow people to bring their own wine. grrrr. That beef better be delicious.

yep, i'm with pooch on this one. ice cold vodka martini, gin gimlet or manhattan.
i always go with a martini and a bacon appetizer. sigh.

So, it turns out the wine list is serviceable. They had a bottle of Ridge Geyserville which was fairly priced, and made me quite happy whilst gorging on aged meats.
