Duck Fat

I got my duck fat from D'Artagnan; very inexpensive. But it came in foam with freeze bags, so the freight cost more than the product.

Maybe that's an issue you should take up with D'Artagan's customer service and not on the talk section of a blog.

there's a price to pay for everything .... just roast some potatoes in it and you'll forget all about the $$$.

pooch is so right. money aint a thang when it comes to taste!

Buy a duck, roast it and and freeze the drippings to use as you need them. In my house the fat is as valuable as the meat.

@joefiladelfia, what's your point? I took a look at the D'Artagnan site and their shipping costs are clearly spelled out before your order is processed. They've done nothing out of the ordinary other than sell to someone who likes to carp. Give us a break! Like @kathyvegas said, make your own and save the shipping.

Gee, I think I'd rather have a perishable product arrive properly packed and in good condition rather than defrosted and rancid.

Shipping perishable food is expensive. Either you pay for it, or you find a local source, or you make your own.

And really, it's not like the shipper has all that much control over shipping prices. Might as well blame FedEx or UPS, too.

I think this is just an advertisement for D'Artagnan duck fat!

dmcavanagh! that's funny!

duck fat shill!
I can't complain about that....more power to you!

D'Artagnan duck fat, ( and several other products) are available in the freezer section of my local market here in Madison WI. So they should be available locally in many other places.

I wish. Duck is hard to find around here, unless you happen to have a gun and good aim.

D'Artagnan products are now available in higher end stores like Fresh Market and Trader Joe's. You'll avoid shipping charges if you seek out retail stores where the products are offered.

Frankly, I've used D'Artagnan for mail order meat and always found it to be pristine and properly packed for shipping. I've re-used coolers that were used as shipping containers. It's like getting something useful that you didn't buy.

Why is this post in "site-feedback"? Think you might have gotten more comments if appropriately placed...I've learned that lesson too many times.
Anyway, D'artagnan simply cannot be beat for any of their products.

Damn the shipping charges and just ENJOY!

My impression was that joefiladelfia confused Site Feedback with D'Artagnan customer service. Maybe he/she ordered their duck fat after clicking an ad on this site or maybe a google search led them here. Either way, joefiladelfia hasn't made a single post on this site since their initial complaint.

Which begs a question. What's up with people starting threads and never posting in them again? I think it's very rude for people to ask for information or advice and never even chime in to thank us or tell us what they ended up doing.
