I'm sorry, but a cucumber shake sounds horribly unappealing to me. I'd try it, though I don't know why.

You can always spread it around the eyes in lieu of slices! HA!

Wow, that sounds great! I love avocado shakes...I'm sure I'd love the cucumber shake more.

Oh, that sounds so lovely and refreshing.

@dharmon - What a fantastic idea. A shake you can also wear! That's what I call a two-fer!

Banyan Cooler: 1/4 cuke, peeled and seeded
4oz pineapple juice
splash of almond syrup
2oz vodka
Ice
Blast the hell out of all that stuff in the blender, pour it in a glass and go drink it outside. Not sure why, but this combo of ingredients does not overwhelm the cuke flavor.

is it ice cream based? i could totally go for a cucumber slushie/smoothie.
kerosena's recipe sounds divine, too!

It's a Vietnamese Sinh To which adds condensed milk for sweetness. Asian foods often stand Western notions of Sweet/Savory on our heads--which I love. Try a spoonful with a dab of Sriracha for a savory flip. They also make a rich avocado shake and a mean durian shake. Beef Pho is excellent or try the Pho/Grilled Chicken cut up the chicken into Pho and let sit. Yum.

@Kerosena - thanks!

Anymore recipes? I'm a cucumber addict

For a nice Cucumber margarita go to Mercadito :)

i've had the avocado and durian versions, but i have never seen a cuke one.
what else is in them? i just assumed ice cream, but is it sweetened condensed milk and ice?
i've never thought of adding sriracha either!

The menu says the cucumber is in "light syrup" whatever that means. It tastes creamy, not syrup sweet. Here is a link Sinh To & other Viet drinks on googlebooks: http://books.google.com/books?id=ef7uLfhufaYC&pg=PA170&dq=sinh+to+recipe It looks like you can mix or substitute coconut milk with condensed milk but otherwise just crushed ice & fruit. I also like the Sinh To ($3) at New Tu Do (102 Bowery @Hester). They have carrot, papaya, watermelon (mmm), mango, sapota & soursop flavors. You can get them to go at the counter. HOT Weather is coming!!!
