Best deals on appliances?
I need to replace my range. I want at least 5 burners and a big oven. Don't really care about self cleaning or convection. A window would be nice. I would buy a professional one if I was allowed to but fire code forbids it in NYC. That leaves me with consumer models. The best deal I have found so far is for a Kenmore 30" free standing for $584 direct from Sears. Does anyone know of any online retailers that might have a better deal? I have room for bigger, and since I have to buy a consumer model, I don't really want to spend more than $700...
Thanks!

Okay, here is a random pitch...have you checked out Best Buy's outlet center? Or clearance area?

Check your local Sears and other appliance stores for "scratch & dent" models. Sears usually has killer deals on S&D.

I bought my range a year ago from Lowes (only a 4 burner) for $450 or so with a new range hood. You might want to consider looking in-store, like @PatioDaddy said, because 'in this economy' lots of places can be talked down.
Also (you probably have thought of this already, but sometimes I forget this stuff) remember to factor in delivery and installation costs. Unless you are handy and strong and plan on doing it yourself!
You might want to ask if the delivery people are subcontracted. The people subcontracted by Lowes in my area (NJ) were terrible, and did not install the range--there was a problem with the gas shut-off valve and they did not know how to fix it, only they didn't explain this to me--just left without telling me why they wouldn't install it (I understand that they couldn't fix it, but telling me WHY would have been nice). I had to get a plumber to do it instead after much confusion.
I did have a good experience with Sears installing a new washer, and Sears does not subcontract its delivery and installation. I have also heard good things about its repair services.

i have a 5 burner (whirlpool) i got from lowes for around $650. it's got a full size oven. it's not the top of the line or the bottom of the line. it does what it has to do. i have to say that the enamel on the top is already screwed up.... after only 3-4 months. of course i work it to death, but
it's in worse shape than the 40 year old stove i used to have in my old apartment ... now that was a stove.
i have a commercial stove in my basement kitchen .... so i do all the heavy stuff down there in the dungeon.

Okay, I hope that this doesn't get me in trouble with the SE board, but i feel that i need to boost my company a little. I work for Best Buy and I have worked a lot with our appliance center, too. Frankly, we have a fantastic selection, both in the stores and online and we have been rated really highly in the "after care" area, like warranties and such. We can deliver and set everything up for you at a time and date that you prefer, and we always have great deals going on.
I am not just saying all of this because I work for them, I just am really passionate about appliances in general (for Heaven's sake, my kitchen stand mixer is the background on my cell phone) and I know that we have great appliances and support and a decent price on things.
Thank you, and I am sorry for the pitch.

We bought a Bosch range from the Sears Outlet store last year for around $600 (and a Bosch built-in dishwasher for less than $300).
They even have their inventory online now:

What I did is stalk my local store's selections until they marked down their "hot deal" - which is how I saved so much on the dishwasher.
We've done Best Buy before - and that's great if you need delivery and want in-box, no scratch/dent/etc. However, I'd rather go through a little extra effort for higher quality like I've gotten at Sears.

If this is the stove you are talking about, I think you will be hard put to beat it at this price. I don't know about your style requirements, but this stove will likely serve you better in home than a big Viking.

No guarantees on finding one, but floor models are usually well discounted.

Nthing Sears outlet. We have one in our town and I went there to look for a dishwasher. Found a mind-boggling array of both high end and low end appliances. Not to mention some pretty cool grills, too.
