BBQ in/around Hickory, NC?
I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations for BBQ in the Hickory, NC area? The wife and I are going down for a wedding in June, and we'll have the night before the wedding to ourselves, and our primary plans involve BBQ.
Any suggestions?

This thread has quite a few places listed in NC but I really couldn't tell you how close any of them are to Hickory. I'm in Raleigh but that's too far. Read this and check out the locations on Mapquest or something. Good luck!

Anything on the NC Barbecue Society's Historic Barbecue Trail is a good bet. And it looks like Carolina Bar-B-Q in Statesville would be convenient to Hickory.

Thanks Alaina - I remember seeing the BBQ Trail site, but couldn't remember the name of it to find it in Google. I was about to say that Statesville is probably too far to go (we're driving down from NJ)... but it's actually right on the way. Guess we just found a pit stop!

Man, too bad you're not closer to Raleigh! Jerry's (seen on Food Network) is awesome! Damn good fried okra too!

I'm in Raleigh next week. I've got Allen and Sons on the must eat list. What else?
