Anniversary Dinner
Today is my anniversary, and I am cooking dinner for my wife and I, as I do every year.
I am thinking a penne with vodka sauce, etc, something simple ,yet elegant.
Any good ideas for menu items before I finalize my grocery list?
Keep in mind, I can't be stuck in the kitchen all night, it is my anniversary.

My wife's annual anniversary request is rack of lamb. Fairly easy to prepare. Goes great with a good cab or syrah.

I love peenne alla vodka. I would add a decadent protein like shrimp or scallops to make it special. Make a fresh tomato and mozzarella salad and a loaf of bread to soak up the sauce. You may want to visit a good bakery and purchase a special dessert to prevent being stuck in the kitchen all night

Sounds like you're leaning towards pasta.
Gnocci with a vodka-roasted pepper sauce would be my pasta-pick; with some grilled prawns.
Pretty quick and easy.
Good luck! Happy anniversary :D

Mmmm penne alla vodka with shrimp. That adds minimal work but a nice upgrade.

Happy anniversary! And mm, penne alla vodka with shrimp? I wish my sweetie would make that for me...

Shrimp does sound good. I usually do turkey meatballs with vodka sauce, but it's WAY more work (and I usually make my bf do that haha). Zucchini is my favorite vegetable for that as well, and should go well with shrimp and pasta or gnocchi.

If you're also making dessert, try chocolate bundles (puff pastry surrounding melted chocolate, baked until golden, and served in a little pool of chocolate ganache). Amazingly simple yet decadent, and presentation is lovely. Yes, it is a Paula Deen recipe.
