Worn Out Mortar and Pestle Question

I have an old mortar and pestle and it is worn smooth so it's not very useful for grinding anymore. It seems like such a shame to get rid of it, does anyone know how to roughen it up again? Either who will do it for you or how to do it yourself? If not anything else I could use it for?
