Who loves Anne Burrell?!

She cooks fabulous restaurant food, she likes brown food, she GROWLS!! I am in love with this woman! My husband wants to know why I am laughing at the food channel in the morning! So why is she on weekend mornings?? She's a Prime Time Babe, if you ask me! More Anne, please! Agree? or Disagree?

I set my DVR to record her show, and occasionally watch a couple of them at a time. I like what she's cooking, but as of today, I've reached the limits of my patience with the growling, sorry.

A thought that just occurred: she'd probably go over better with an audience at hand. Even just a small one, a la Batali.

The growling is no more a pain in the ass than BAAM and YUMMO. Anne has talent, she is a great chef I dig her and I would pick her side in a fight and take my earrings off and get her back.
The growling might be her filling in for more prolific language. Professional kitchens are often peppered with colorful metaphors and earthy explicatives. So you hear grrrr and when she is cooking professionally she probably says what she likes. Don't we all?

I can't make up my mind. She's totally bizarre; aside from the growling I can't get past the hair. That being said, she makes beautiful food. I don't know, she's still kind of up in the air with me. She's interesting, I'll give her that.

I think she's fabulous too. She seems to really enjoy everything she does in the kitchen and it's infectious. She seems very down to earth, fun, high spirited and real. Love her!!!

I love her! the earl for oil thing is annoying since it doesnt seem to be genuinely her, but that could be just me. I do love her concept of brown food! its become a bit of a catch phrase now, SO's mom even called the other day and asked what we were making for easter, when I told her lamb she kinda moaned and said "oh yum brown food". I was laughing so hard i had to pass the phone soI could catch my breath. (this is a woman who's most infamous recipe is "orange noodley goop" )

I'm glad to see ya'll love Anne. I feel like she is one of the handful of TV 'chefs' whose ability truly merits her spotlight. She really knows her stuff; that is clear. While I love the Food Net, and consider many of them 'close friends' (ha!), some of the most popular chefs seriously lack credibility. Okay, this could be another conversation.
At any rate, Anne Burrell in fact deserves some spotlighting; I love how she is incredibly honest in regard to the patron-restaurant relationship, as well as discrepancies between home cook and honed master.
Sooo.. I like her quite a bit.

I like Anne. Some of her mannerisms may be a little goofy, but she's always making the food that I want to eat, and that's what counts for me.
I'm a little disappointed that she left Centro Vinotecca, though. I really liked her cooking there, and now if I go there I'm supporting that loser Leah from Top Chef.

I agree that her mannerisms and growling can get annoying, but no more than other chef's particularities. I like the fact that she teaches as she cooks, and gives reasons behind some of her prep techniques. Her love of all things food is obvious, and contagious!!

She is one of the few people on the Food Network whose show I actually watch (the others being Alton, Ina and Aida*). The growling is weird, her hair is crazy, but she gets SO excited and I actually learn from her. I particularly love learning about how things work in a real restaurant kitchen. Plus, I love, love, LOVE her on Iron Chef.

*I'm still not sure about her or her show's format, but her cohost is adorable!

One more for Team Anne! Love her show. I learn something everytime I watch. The grrrrowling doen't bother me. I'd growl too if I could cook like that.

Love her. Respect her cooking, teaching and techniques. Because of the love and respect, her mannerisms don't bother me in the slightest. I feel the same about Emeril, Ina, Tyler and many PBS cooks.

Those I do not love and respect annoy the crap out of me, raise my blood pressure and put me in danger of falling as I run for the remote, and put me in danger of a sore throat as I yell mean things at them. I don't think they hear me, because they continue to be annoying.

Happy Birthday Huneybumper!!!!

There are chefs that I enjoy watching, some whose food I want to eat, some whose recipes I want and whose cookbooks I would buy, and some who I think would be fun to have in my kitchen. It's pretty rare to find them all in the same person.

Right now, I think Anne is still getting used to being in front of the camera alone. Her later episodes are a little more relaxed than the earlier ones, and I think she'll grow into the TV role as time goes on. And, as they figure out what format she's good with.

If you watch earlier episodes of Emeril's old shows, he's not so good at reading from a teleprompter. It's almost uncomfortable to listen to. But then when he's cooking and ad-libbing he's better. He's evolved a lot since then. I think we have to give Anne some time before we know what she can really do on TV.

I think she is great. It is refreshing to see a real chef on FN. The growling is a heck of lot less annoying than a schreeched Y'ALL from PD or a tablescape from Sandra dee. I don't mind the growling at all -- it's about the food baby.

@lakelover: Yes- I will go ahead and say I totally and completely cannot stand Sandra Lee. I mean, my mother laughs at my indignation. And I hate Giada's possession of show and fame. These are the ones who, afore mentioned, are lacking in credibility and who drive me insane. I agree with everyone else in that Anne's clear passion and her qualifications are attractive and worthy of spotlight.

I don't love the growl/url/thank-u-for-coming-bowl etc mannerisms, but her recipes and techniques are good, so I have the TiVo set for her every week. Ditto on the respect. She's a real chef, not a pretty pretty host with pretty pretty... eyelashes, which makes her stand out on FN.

Hubby and I are still undecided although we do have every episode that we haven't watched on DVR. She obviously knows and LOVES food, that's a HUGE plus in both our books. The behavioral stuff is where we are unsure. We regularly rewind to see if she just did/said what we thought she did. Developing the brown crud in the pan has changed our lives (read bolognese) for the better, but it's a little schizophrenic to feel like we're watching Judy Tenuto (sp?) or Bobcat Goldthwaite as she cycles through her persona. A tentative thumbs up here as we see how the show progresses.

LOVE her, growls and all. she makes food i want to eat and makes it look easy - and, i find, it actually IS easy. she got me to cook things i never thought i would. she's fun and i learn new stuff all the time. i'm surprised that people react so strongly to her style, then again, Ina Garten puts me to sleep...

I love Anne Burrell for the food she cooks and the techiniques she shares. I love that she's honest about how much salt goes into restaurant food. I don't care for the "earl" pronunciation of "oil" and the whole growling thing. It's over the top and God knows, we have enough of that in culinary media.

I hope TVFN keeps her show on. She's got worthwhile info and knows her stuff. The delivery can be a little rough but hey, it takes all kinds to fill the freeway.

a REAL cook on Food Network? a woman with genuine personality and passion? Love, LOVE her!

I must be used to some pretty weird people, because most of the mannerisms mentioned above don't trip my radar. My husband has actually gotten interested in cooking through watching Anne and Jamie with me. He really notices what they are doing and comments tellingly on the final results. He's a WASPy, ivy-clad, retired law professor. She doesn't strike us as much different from various friends, relatives, or people around town. So, two more votes for Anne!

I love her and FWIW, any comments that bother to mention her hair are really missing what this is all about. She is a good cook, personable, and well worth watching.

Love for Anne aside, can we hope for a day where we've moved beyond trademarked catchphrases and quirky branded noises or statements? I swear it is like Boobs, Teeth, Money, Bam, or such have become the equivalent of a software program's icon button - a split second blip that links you to the rest of the story. [Don't even get me started with grown men wearing sunglasses backwards - makes me wanna **** those shades off his head and give him back the third IQ digit he has forsaken.].

Nursie you mean biker guy cooks with jewelry? Ha

Me! I really enjoy her. But not as much as Ina. She will forever have my heart.

I don't like her show at all, but I liked her when she was on Iron Chef with Batali (maybe cause she didn't speak). I think all that growling and stuff she does is way to forced.

I was also not impressed by the meal I had at her restaurant.

Sorry, count me out on this one. Didn't like the show from the start and tried to hang there. At least they dressed her better in the second season.....
PS Glad to see Robert Irvine back on the Food channel-what are you gonna do? We are all human and make mistakes.........

LOVE Anne's show. Totally agree w/the people who say she makes the food we want to cook and eat! And I like her tv personality - she's different and funny. Her growls, shimmies, and shakes render her unique.
I'm STILL dreaming about the ribeye steak she made on the show where she rubbed it w/that brown sugar & spice rub and let it cure for 3 days before grilling....looks sooooo amazing. I want to try it at Centro Vinoteca, but it's $40 and who knows if it's still good since she no longer works there!!?

Anne is exactly what I was hoping FN would have the guts to do: give us a talented real working chef who is giving us a more advanced cooking show. She's as kooky as real chefs are and come across as a real person; not someone that was extruded from a "TV Personality" factory in Taiwan. Oh and not only does she look like she eats the food she makes, unlike Giada, I bet that she could beat the tar out of any FN personality except Mike Symon. My kinda gurl!

I love Anne! She brims with personality, has a hilarious food vocabulary, and I've tried her recipes and they really work. I wrote to the Food Network after her first or second telecast, and praised her to the skies. I'm glad so many of you agree.

I'm a big fan of Anne Burrell and have learned a lot from watching her. "BROWN FOOD TASTES GOOD!" She's a bit quirky, but aren't all TV chefs, in one way or another. At least she doesn't cackle. That's when I change the channel.

I love Anne Burrell! I've made several of her recipes including the bolognese sauce - yikes, they were great!

I must say, I like FN stars early on, then get tired of them as they get over exposed, like RR. But Anne, she really cooks great food, and loves it all the way. I mean, really loves it! Who wouldn't want a job like that?? I'm jealous! Grr, I'm a fan...gimme the t-shirt!

The first episode I saw was her spaghetti bolognese and I loved hearing all her restaurant tips--things I've never heard before. However, I made the bolognese and it took ALL DAY and it was...a plate of spaghetti. I watched a few more episodes and the growling got to me, but at the same time I love hearing all the tips & I admire her passion. So I tivo all the episodes and have a TON of them still to watch. I'm sure I will try more of her recipes. Am I the only one who loves her hair?? It rocks!

At first she weirded me out. But I gave her another chance and I fell. Kinda like some of the guys in my past. You know?

Lets face it folks, these shows are not about cooking they are about "personalities." Guy Fieri has about 30 catchphrases and hopes that one of them will catch on like Emeril's stupid BAM. Paula Dean has gotten a lot more "southern" in the last year. Rachel Ray has web sites dedicated to people who want to vent about how annoying she is. And yes Rachel - we know you are married.
Anne has a conflict. She seems to be a down to earth person competing for air time with a bunch of celebrities. She is confused as to how to act. Give her time and the real Anne will win out.
For my money Robin Miller is the show to watch. She does not use any gimmicks and her dishes are not complicated. It is not for the person who likes to have a band in the background, cutaways to audience members nodding in approval and laughing at the hosts attempt at being humorous on Emeril Live. Are you interested in learning about food or watching a "personality." And don't get me started on Bobby Flay.

Two thumbs up for Anne!!

When I first viewed Anne Burrell's show, "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef", I thought it was a rather interesting concept. Admittedly, she was a bit "out there", but i tried to get past some of the quirks. To be honest, she's not more annoying than the EVOO diva, or the Pepsodent pin-up, to name a couple. One of my biggest pet peeves with her, is her habit of double-dipping with the same spoon when she tastes the food (maybe it's just me).

Although I think that there's way too much emphasis on physical appearance, I would just like to add that maybe she'd do well not to wear some of those figure-hugging tops. Our girl looks like she can chow down, so having said that, those tops are not the most flattering.

I must say that I always learn a lot from her show and I respect her as a real, working chef. The FoodNetwork is much richer for having chefs of her knowledge and caliber.

I love Anne Burrell! She definitely knows what she's doing and I find her energy exciting! Everything she makes inspires me! When I first saw her on tv, I said to myself, "Who is this character?" I thought she was a bit too demonstrative and loud. But after watching her, I realized that it is her passion and know-how that makes her fun to watch and learn from! Keep on cookin' Anne!

I think she's great - and I have made many of her recipes - the food is terrific.

I really love her. I am nervous for her...yes she should take it down a notch with her grunts and all....but I really love to watch her. She is refreshing and makes simple food.....

I find her to be utterly grating. I change the channel when I see her, even if it's just a commercial.

I've loved Anne since day one...but where are the NEW shows? Lately they've just been re-runs.
