Where to buy Live Blue Crabs?

Anyone have any ideas of where to buy live blue crabs in New York? Any places in Jersey?

I'm trying to throw a nice proper Maryland crab feast this weekend and I'm desperately searching for a fish store to buy a bushel of crabs. Usually I just drive down to Delaware- anything south of Philly is good, but this year I don't think I can go all the way down there. Thanks!

Easy to get to in Chadds Ford off Rt 202 via Rt 1.

They have them at Italian market in philly but they will be smallish.

I know they have them at the Chinese grocery store on Rt. 46. They might have changed their name, but it's at this location
Maxim's Rt 46 Oriental Food

Sorry if this info is too late for the crabfest, but...

I'd say the best bet for the price is in Chinatown. There's a huge indoor crab and lobster market on Lafayette between Canal and Broome...

And then there's always the popular tourist favorites - the outdoor fish markets on Canal between Mulberry and Mott. They usually have bluecrabs as well.

second chinatown

chinatown..... or any good italian fish market.... check out 9th ave around 39th st.....

love blue crabs.... cook those crabs in a nice marinara sauce..... and serve with some nice linguini..... mmmmm.......

Just walk up and down Mott Street. Plenty of seafood vendors all up and down the heart of Chinatown. You can poke and prod and compare prices and quality at numerous stands.

If that fails, any supermarket, how about the big one near Elizabeth.

Or you can try the Flushing or Brooklyn Chinatowns.

We're getting into the season so big buckets of live crabs are available anywhere you go.

Oh and in New Jersey: H Mart in Ridgefield, NJ. Very close to the Mitsuwa shopping center, so get in a quality day of grocery shopping! The seafood at the H-mart often trumps the quality of even Chinese stores.

Their razor clams and fresh oysters are delicious, by the way. Pristine in their freshness and cleanliness.

If you don't mind driving down to exit 77 (parkway) in Jersey, my husband is a crabber and you won't get them any fresher. Straight off the boat, in fact. We usually just need to know the day before so we save a bushel for you. Our prices are also generally more reasonable than fish stores. You can email me at apopovics@comcast.net and I'll give you our number to call if you're interested.

I've been going to Lindy's Maryland Crabs & Seafood since I was a kid. 1601 E Elizabeth Ave
Linden, NJ 07036

Wow- thanks for all the tips, guys! I work down the street from Chinatown and I've looked into getting them down there but never followed through. Usually get an odd look when you say that you need 6 dozen. Maybe this will be the year. Lindy's sounds great too!
I second the Hadfield's recommendation- always my go-to stop when I'm passing through! And thanks Scarletini- I'm probably out of range, but good luck with the crabbing!
