What's been your most sucessful office treat?

I am baking for someone's last day in the office this Friday, and I want something to please everyone (hard!) and easy to grab and snack on; no cakes/pies/things that involve cutting! Thanks everyone!

30 Comments:

Everyone at my office really loves this bacon bark that I make. So, maybe something in the bark/brittle family? Something that is easy to make and easy to grab.

Oh, and brownies are always super popular, obviously. Either a really good classic one or something a little different....blondies, mint chip, raspberry, etc.

All I can say is that I eagerly await the responses--I like to bring treats to offices (I freelance) however I am always afraid that something won't taste good at room temperature or will get lost in a cavernous and crowded office refrigerator.

@hmwoo29:Those gananche bars look decadent!

@cdp1223: i've actually never made a brittle before, i will look into it, but now i canNOT stop thinking about mint chip brownies :)

Thank you both!

I have consistently good luck with any of the Martha Stewart cookies out of her COOKIES book that I picked up last December. The hazelnut thumbprint cookies went really quickly, as well as the little cappucino bites.

I used to make these wonderful mini cupcakes and everyone loved them! Always requested for holidays or parties at the office.

You can make them regular size but I preferred them mini. This is also not the exact recipe I use but it's the same concept.

I have made a variation on Martha Stewart's peanut butter sandwich cookies to great succes! --from the Martha Stewart Baking Handbook. They are really tasty and look very impressive!

ughhh, i love martha stewart.

My chocolate chip cookies are a HUGE hit at the office. I use the Joy of Cooking recipe and sub in milk chocolate chips. Refrigerate the dough overnight, and then unwrap a bunch of caramel-filled Hershey's kisses and make dough balls with the kisses in the center. Bake at the temperature directed in the recipe, but for approx. 8 minutes. You want them to be slightly underbaked.

Inspired by the famous NYTimes cookie recipe that came out last year:

Chocolate ship cookies are always a hit here, as are quick breads...banana, pumpkin and apple. I once brought in some left over made from a mix brownies and people went NUTS for them. I bet homemade ones would be even more popular.
Lemon squares met with mixed reviews, as did biscotti.

I actually did this for a party at work, and substituted "milk", with Kahlua (because I work in the music industry :).

I don't think the words to describe how well it went down, have been invented yet...

David Lebovitz's cheesecake brownies were snapped up practically at light speed.

@conky: those are OUT OF CONTROL! i love it....good call.
@unpocojmoney: these are looking pretty promising :)

decisions decisions!

you all make it so hard to pick one thing, and i thank you for that ;)

Pumpkin mini muffins are always a hit. They're moist and easy to pop down.

Nanomi (sp) bars always seem to be a hit, or like above said choc chip cookies or most any cookie at that.

my office looooves the sea salt brownies i make (i use 1/2 a stick less of butter, 1/2 cup of choco chips and add 1/4 tsp salt to the batter) as well as white chocolate lime cookies (i take down the white sugar to 1/2 a cup and squeeze extra lime juice over them before putting in the oven...they're really refreshing!)

Bite-sized puff pastry with various fillings (mushrooms, potatoes, potatoes & spinach, cream cheese, cream cheese & spinach, etc.) has always been my colleagues favourite treat. Mini muffins worked very well, too.

geez, this is making me want to bake like crazy.

When my bf is out of town and I'm in a biscotti-baking mood, I end up handing it out at work - most folks seem to like it. I also sent some with my bf when he went on a business trip (fitting, since they sent us macaroons for Christmas!) and he said they were a huge hit. He even forwarded me an email they sent him giving a tally on how many were gone within a few minutes asking if they had to share :P

If you want to truly endear yourself to a collegue like me you'll offer something savory for those who are not into sweets. Like the puff pastry idea above, offered along with a sweet treat for the sweets lovers.

My whole office adored my lemon ricotta cookies! Even I couldn't get enough :)

make these kitchen sink buttercrunch bars, and they will be devoured. you might even get a promotion.

I once made foccacia with different toppings and precut it into squares. People damn near hoovered it up. Sky's the limit on toppings, too - I did pepperoni/mozzarella, black bean/feta/cilantro, bacon/onion/cheddar... but you can do whatever you like - as rich and fatty or light as you want.

I used to do mini muffins in 3 or 4 kinds so people could grab what they liked. Lemon blueberry, orange cranberry, choco chip and cinnamon spice one.

I have made brown rice krispies treats , to give as gifts... and they're always a HIT!!! I do not use marshmallows and use almond butter instead. Really good...

I usually go with my lemon bars, chocolate cherry cheesecake brownies and banana pudding...I get so many requests for the banana pudding
@cdp1223- the bacon bark sounds intriguing & yummy..What's in it?
@ Hillary-Lemon ricotta cookies look to die for --I have to make those-like NOW!

Cookie dough brownies! Make one batch of One Bowl Brownies from the Baker's Chocolate box (or whatever your favorite brownies are). Spread batter into a 9 x 13 pan. Make one-half batch of Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie dough, light on the chocolate chips. Drop cookie dough in small blobs all over the brownie batter. Bake. Top with Hershey's chocolate frosting--just a thin layer to keep in the moisture.

I was so tempted to write "Anything." LOL. Break rooms are notoriously the Bermuda Triangle for food.

I've brought party leftovers to work, chips and salsa, hummus, meatballs, wings, you name it. They especially loved cheesecake. Brownies. I could go on and on.

Before BF and I moved here, I used to send him CARE packages of baked goods. I sent scones, brownies, cookies, etc. After the first package arrived, anytime he got a box everyone paid attention. My most recent goody was a batch of lemon bars.

@orangemiles - those sound incredible! I can see I'll be clicking on a lot of the links in this topic.
