Question for Steak Sauce Lovers/Experts...
I'm trying to crack a recipe that uses steak sauce as one of the key ingredients. Previously, the recipe used Sharwood steak sauce but that product has since been discontinued and replaced with a new Steak Sauce I'm trying to find.
I'm fairly confident some of the signature ingredients in the steak sauce I'm looking for include: Molasses, Tomato Paste, Lemon Juice, Dates, Orange/Apple Juice Concentrate, Chili Peppers, among other ingredients.
I've tried HP Fruity Sauce and its gets very close but missing a slight, sweet undertone. Any recommendations on other Steak Sauces to try?
Thanks!!!

I checked Peter Lugers steak sauce but looks like its made with Horseradish and I'm pretty confident thats not one of the ingredients in the steak sauce used in this particular recipe. Thanks though!

Looks very similar to A-1 to me.

I tried the A1 Sauce in the recipe but the end product was too smokey and too "sharp" in taste. Additionally, the A1 Sauce uses a Raisin paste and I'm pretty confident thats not one of the ingredients in the streak sauce used in this particular recipe. Thanks for your recommendation though!

You might try Pickapeppa Sauce. It has mango and raisin. Its definately not as smokey as A1.

Just a random throw-in...our favorite sauce is from the Angus Barn in Raleigh. My husband grew up there, and we have the sauce shipped into TX. Very vinegary, but also hints of chili and worcestershire sauces...worth ordering!

I don't like to distroy my steaks with steaksauce usually,
but if I was to choose I would choose A1 as well;
less "fruity" than HP (?)
thegotch's suggestion sounds great!
I would add that to my steaksandwich with some carmelized onions and sauteed mush....mmmmmmmmmm raisin? friggin eh

Well...if you know what's in it and what it's supposed to taste like, why not make your own? That way you can tweak it to get it exactly right. Or, if you find that one is close, but missing some element, start there and add whatever elements you think it needs. It might be easier and cheaper than buying every imaginable steak sauce on the market.

@hungrychristel - Now, Now....don't be like that. You must taste it twice before you veto.....Now open wide....here comes the airplane!
