Orange Zest and Pinot Grigio

A friend of mine was telling me about a beverage she had recently at the home of an older Italian family. They are Milanese. It was a drink whereby orange zest and a bit of sugar is added to a pinot grigio which sits for 40 days... She said it was delicious! My Sicilian ancestors have no such thing... (Limoncello is as close as we get...) Anyone ever heard of this? Know how to make it (i.e. how much zest and sugar, etc.)... Thanks!!
