In Desperate Need of Help

Please help me, I am having a difficult time with figuring out what kinds of food to eat, that are high in calories.

Um, it helps if you mention why ....

bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, ice cream, cake .... milkshakes....

cream sauces, cheeses....

all of the good stuff.

Hi @hartgirl,

Maybe you can give us a little more to work with in terms of kinds of foods you are looking for. Are you on a restricted diet and cannot eat certain foods? Let us know a little more so we can help you out.

This should do the trick nicely.
One would probably be sufficient.

I dont know if it will help you, but I try to eat as healthy as possible while still taking in more calories, Alot of junky empty calories I dont feel is the best way to gain weight for whatever reason. That said, if you do feel like having something like that, feed the beast! From personal experience I can tell you there have been many days that the only thing I can keep down is something crappy for me. Just try to keep a balance and make sure you get what you need in terms of vitamins and nutrients. More than that,I cant advise since I'm not a nutritionist and dont knowthe issue you may be having. Good Luck! Sometimes its harder to gain than it is to lose.

Butter is high in calories.

May I suggest www.pauladeen.com

Just make anything............

If you're trying to eat things that are reasonably healthy and calorific, this list is from http://healthyceri.blogspot.com/2008/05/cers-famous-healthy-calorie-dense-food.html

Ceri's "famous" calorie dense foods list:

- All natural peanut butter
- Dark chocolate
- Raw almonds, cashews & other nuts
- Fruit & especially Fruit Juice
- Whole grains, pastas, rice & cereals
- Potatoes, yams
- Sunflower seeds
- Dried fruit
- Beans & other legumes
- Avocado
- Dairy such as 2% milk, cheese, yogurt
- Fish high in omega-3's such as salmon, tuna
- Red meats with the word "round" or "loin" in the name
- Cook vegetables/meats/etc in olive oil
- Add flaxseed or flaxseed oil to your food
- If you can't get enough calories from food, try a meal replacement shake. Add peanut butter, flax oil, fruit, etc to make it even more calorie dense.

I thought @finsbigfan suggested "Paula Deen"...
LOL.

I am answering this as though you are a healthy person who just needs to gain weight because you're naturally, unhealthily thin. It was a battle for me in my younger years (though that changed drastically as I got older), so I have a few suggestions:

Mac and cheese is probably the most fattening food in the known universe.
Buy a body builders protein drink and have at least one of them a day
Rice and beans
Peanut butter and banana on multi grain bread (still a personal fave)
Guacamole
Dried fruit
Dress your vegetables in olive oil
Dress your salads with a higher ration of oil to vinegar - say 1 to 4 instead of 1 to 3.
Egg salad sandwiches
Grilled cheese sandwiches
Mashed potatoes

If you're going to eat chicken, go for the dark meat, eat the nice crispy skin.
If you're eating steak, go for the skirt and not the flank
Ohhh, lasagna
And never underestimate the power of a chili cheeseburger and fries

Make sure that no matter what you're eating to gain weight that you also eat plenty of veggies and fruit. And you don't want to gain too quickly. You'll end up with stretch marks. And do some strength training exercises. Otherwise you're gonna put on pounds but the pounds will be flabby and unattractive.

Man, I used to do horrible things to gain- I'd shake up a can of reddi-whip and just plow the stuff down my throat. I had to get B-12 shots. My dad had me drinking a beer every night before bed since that's what they did in Germany at that time to fatten up the babies (he figured it would work on teens. I never complained - I mean, come on - BEER at 12. Awesome.)
