Dinner Recommendations for San Francisco Trip
I lived in SF last summer so I've tried the top 'hot picks'. I'm looking this time around for some lesser known but really good dinner spots in SF. The price is not a problem -- experience is what I'm most concerned with. Thanks guys!

I really like Kowloon Tong Dessert Cafe in Inner Richmond for a late-night snack, if that helps at all.

There's a sweet little place on Pine called Rue Le Pic. Staffed by a cook and one, very pleasanr, waiter - it seats about 35 people. a marvelous cook - each diner is treated to an initial soup course - no charge - and there's a good menu offering varied choices. It has a simple, but adequate, wine list and a fair choice of desserts.
We've been eating there for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Dinner for two is less than $ 50 including a glass of wine.
A new Japanese restaurant on the 2600 block of Lombard is more than interesting - great sushi and sashimi and a nice small plates menu. Some nights they offer a large draught beer for a buck.
At Church and Market - great place for green onion pancakes and other Chinese food - Red Jade.
House of Prime Rib has a terrific salad opener and great meat and potatoes. They carve to your specs table-side. Big, busy and friendly..
I remember them being there for over 35 years They do offer a fish entree if you don't want the Roast Beef.
One of my favorites is The Slanted Door in the Ferry Building and Kon Tiang on Geary Blvd. is known for their Chinese Food. Yank Sing for Dim Sum would be my choice.
Go online to KQED , local PBS station for "Check Please Bay Area" many ideas. there.

I love the Front Porch and Emmy's Spaghetti Shack--both located in the outer Mission. Emmy's is comfort food with a twist and a great atmosphere--tiny, with booths and sometimes a dj--and Front Porch is hipster southern--think fried chicken and crab and grits. Those are two of my regular spots.
For ethnic food, if you're ready to brave a crowd, Burma Superstar on Clement is great--get the tea leaf salad and supertsar noodles; San Tung on Irving is excellent for Chinese--get the shrimp and leek dumplings and dry-fried chicken. Little Star and Pauline's are both excellent choices for pizza.
