Del Posto vs. Babbo
Looking at the tasting/prix fixe menus in particular. Going to NYC in May and can't choose between the two. The fiance and I are fairly adventurous (him more so than me) but are both a bit put off by offal. Any advice? Which would you choose?
All of this, of course, assumes I'll be able to get a reservation. Haha.

One vote for Del Posto! If you opt to eat their Enoteca, the $52 prix fixe is a fantastic value.

babbo. had one of my most memorable meals there. del posto didn't quite live up to my expectations even though it was delicious.

Yes, Babbo is a bit nicer and not so expensive - not that its cheap. If you get there at 5:30 you can eat at the bar, which I prefer.

Depends on what atmosphere you want, too. Babbo is a zoo. Pastas are great at Babbo, the rest of the menu less so. Del Posto is excellent across the menu but is more sedate than Babbo. The Enoteca at Del Posto is a great value, as noted above.

Babbo, if you can get in, but the Enoteca at Del Posto is very good, too.

Babbo's really not that special...lets be honest...both the pasta AND regular tasting menu sound a LOT better than they actually are...and its awfully crowded and a nightmare to get a reservation...Del Posto all the way

Babbo is crowded. It is a zoo. DelPosto is quieter and more elegant and has an amazing bar. But the truth is, the food is infinitely better at Babbo. Enoteca is a relative bargain but it has gotten uneven.

Del Posto was a tad bit disappointing when I went. I've never been to Babbo because I can never seem to get in, but I've been to the little sister Lupa and loved it.

I have only been to Babbo, but it was amazing and worth every penny...I think its popularity after so many years is indicative of its superb quality.

Skip them both, go to Il Buco

You'll have a better time and a superior meal.
Babbo is load and Del Posto is pompous. Il Buco is reserved and fulfilling.
