Baconaise
I've been sick in bed all day today, which means I've been able to catch up on all the daytime television I stopped watching ages ago. On Oprah today, there was a feature on the guys who made Baconaise, which is a sandwich spread I've never heard of before.
Apparently they have a franchise in the works that includes all things bacon and it has made them millionaires; everything from bacon-flavored lip balm to bacon salt.
I was curious if anyone's tried the Baconaise sandwich spread, apparently it's vegetarian and kosher, as there's no real bacon in the stuff. Is it good, bad, somewhere in between?

It's not unpleasant, but I'm not planning to buy a second jar.

Let's put it this way: It's now a running gag on The Dailly Show with Jon Stewart!

Ive bought some bacon salt, I was all excited about a healthier way to kill the bacon craving. Its tolerable on popcorn, but truthfully, I'll never buy it again! Its flavor is less bacon and more smoky, think table salt with hickory flavor. I much prefer smoked sea salt flakes. Since they are the same producers of Boconaise (awful name imho) I doubt I'll ever try it!

We've been real happy with the bacon salt but never tried the baconnaise.
Just make a sandwich with Hellman's and sprinkle the bacon salt on it, sit back and enjoy a great smokey flavor that has people asking for the recipe.

What Serious Eater (in his/her right mind) who is a bacon lover, would even think for a second that fake bacon flavor could begin to replace the beloved slabs of goodness? Healthy? How about all things in moderation. I am pretty sure we have discussed that concept before.

I never said it replaced it...nothing could. But in a pinch this stuff is still very good. Why don't you give it a try before insulting your fellow Serious Eaters?

Izatryt trust me the only reason I was trying to "replace" bacon is because for health reason I can no longer eat it :-(

Some people are very passionate about bacon. A driven and devoted clan they take their bacon very seriously. That is who. Fake bacon is an insult.

I saw the same show Friday after midnight :) I thought it was rather strange, especially since it's not really even bacon! Can't imagine how gross the lipbalm would be.
