The original all-the-way-uptown Malecon, Mi Tierra on 146th, La Flor De Mayo on 101st, La Caridad on 78th, Café Ronda on 71st are my go to spots.

Any of the Pio Pio Restaurants, and my favorite is the fancy one in Jackson Heights (which is more of a sit down than a take out place - the best rotisserie chicken there is, and the best prices. I'm allergic to seafood, but everyone else I know loves the seafood platter too. Outrageous sides - tostones, rice & beans, avocado salad, and the guilt inducing twice fried french fries with cut up franks.
Churrascaria Platforma on W. 49th St. between 8th & 9th - the best place to OD on steak.
Boca Junior's on Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst - the service is not good, but the food is great and there's always a fun crowd, esp. soccer fans. It helps to have at least one native Spanish speaker in your party.
Lomito on Spring St. near Hudson - great Argentian/Italian
Little Havana on Cornelia near Bleeker.

DEFINITELY third the JH Pio Pio. Tierras Columbianas is my neighborhood go-to spot. There's also a small restaurant with a taco window on 30th ave between 30th and 31st Streets that I've been to 400 times and can't think of the name. Hands down best to-go tacos - and I've tried many an nyc taco truck/window.

The rotisserie chicken at La Flor de Mayo was extremely delicious when I lived in town a few years ago. Hope it still is.

Okay, not exactly upper scale, but really tasty stuff at a great price is Sophie’s Cuban. I get lunch delivered from there at least once every couple of weeks. I've never had anything bad from there. Great grilled chicken, roast chicken, ropa vieja, Cuban sandwiches. I think they're only open for lunch, and their specials often sell out, so one is better getting there earlier rather than later. Oh their green sauce is killer..

Sophie's is great and is springing up all over Manhattan. So is Pio Pio, My dad took me to the original one on Woodhaven before it became popular and I fell in love for good reason. The green hot sauce is second to none.
I'm excited to see Peruvian Cuisine grow in NYC in the near future.
Can anyone suggest authentic Peruvian, Bolivian or Ecuadorian spots?

Pio Pio is over rated! The chicken is okay but there are too many places in Queens alone that offer a better chicken and for a cheaper price. EL Anzuelo Fino is just down the street from Pio Pio on 86th St and Northern Blvd and has an excellent variety of Peruvian food besides their already better "Pollo a la Brasa"
