West Tennessee : Not-to-miss BBQ?
I'm going on a short road trip near Nashville and Memphis in a week or two. I was wondering if you might know of any places to eat, especially bbq joints, that I should be sure to visit? No back road is too back road for me. Come on, spill the beans!

Slick Pig BBQ and Goff's BBQ in Murfreesboro. It's just south of Nashville and a must eat!

What I love about the whole area (much of the south actually) is being able to find all the little roadside BBQ stands and the signs leading you through the back roads to the good but small places.
Sadly I have not been back in ten years (I lived near Nashville for 9) so I can't recall the way to the good ones I remember, but if a sign leads off the beaten path to BBQ it can be fun to check out.
A third for the Interstate also, pretty good.
And while I know it is more like fast-food BBQ than a real pit place, I liked the vinegar sauce at Whitt's, which is a chain. I used to buy the sauce for my own BBQ.
I am sure you will find good stuff wherever you go. I sure do miss the food!

mmmmmmmmmmm....Whitt's! Every Sunday after church we would go get a family pack of bbq from there! It's one of the best chains.

A few of my fav West Tennessee BBQ places:
Memphis-
Rendevous...the ribs and experience are fantatstic.
Interstate...probably the best in town.
Bryant's...best greasy piggy pulled pork sandwich I've ever had.
Jackson- Backyard BBQ...Onion Loaf and pulled pork...great sauce.
Jacks Creek- Jacks Creek BBQ...Not sure if this is still open...but it
used to be my fav Whole Hog BBQ in the area.
Pickwick- The Rib Cage...My hometown BBQ...ribs and wings.

If Jacks Creek is still open, it is the best. Located on Hwy 100 a few miles from Henderson. There is NOTHING in middle tennessee that comes close. I have lived in Nashville for over 20 years and if you think whitts is good, you have never eaten whole hog BBQ. If JC is no longer open, try Scotts in Lexington.(about 10 miles from JC). Pig House in Jackson does shoulders. Nothing better than a greasy whole hog BBQ sandwich with cole slaw and vinager based hot sauce.

@fpcoach- Thanks for recommending Scotts in Lexington..I'm going to be in the area in a couple of weeks and will have to make a drive over to try it out.

A stop at the Bar B Que Shop on Madison Avenue in Memphis is a must. It's off the beaten bbq path, but totally worth it.
