small food miracles
So a coworker of mine was kind enough to gift me some garlic from her garden ... in return I told her I would make her granola. It took me forever seeing as I'm mostly lazy and had other 'orders' to make for friends and family across country. But this weekend I kind of kicked into warrior kitchen mode and made TONS of food, including her granola.
I brought it in to her and didn't get her reaction, but when I went home, I decided to have some of the leftover from that batch ... and then I realized I FORGOT THE BROWN SUGAR. Ouch. It wasn't as crisp and wasn't nearly as sweet as it should have been. I sent her an email the next day saying I was making another batch to right my wrong. I didn't hear back from her so I was kind of embarassed for the rest of the day - I mean, I gave someone food that didn't taste good! Sin of all sins ...
I made a batch last night and as I parked my car this morning, I saw her pull in next to me. I pulled out the bag as I greeted her, and she asks if I got her email - I hadn't. Apparently she LOVED the batch I gave her because "the two things that make it most loveable to me is that there is tons of good stuff in it AND that it is NOT sweet. Ha! So I am as happy as a clam. :)"
I have no idea how I pulled that off. Sheer luck, tiny miracles, who knows. I'm just glad that a recipient of a home-made food gift was happy - because that's the point, right?
I can't be the only person something like this has happened to - so what's your small food miracle?
